Motivation to game make

  1. Hey everyone, I just started working on making a game but I don't want to continue because of some issues, what are some ways to motivate me to get back to developing? ;_;   ;_;   ;_;
  2. My suggestion? Take a two day break then come back. That's what I do when I get unmotivated. I either go play a game instead of make one, or read a book or something else. Usually after the two day break I'm ready to continue and have more ideas.
  3. Depends on the issues. Normally I make games to see the finished product, and to see it be played/enjoyed.
  4. Dependent on the issue, I guess, but a break helps when you're burnt out. Other times, I try an alternate method depending on the problem. Now if the issue is just being in a rut and not wanting to do anything, just do a thing to completion, whether great or small. Like say I don't wanna work on sprites anymore, I'll work on menu design instead, etc. Every little bit helps.
  5. when you don't feel to work on your project I suggest this

    have min 3 project one really important your principal

    a second hand

    and a really small

    and when you are tired of one of your project swap until you feel to work on your important project

    (this is work for me and me crazy like i am I have like 10 project but only 3 principal project)

    but you have to keep your control :3

    I'm going to echo this one some too. I have a second project which I go to when I just want to do something silly or see if something can be done in RPGMaker. Even called it Junk for a while just because I knew it was for being crazy. Nowdays though, my 2nd project is a blank one for scripting, so I know I will not mess too much up while writing (or trying to write) a script.
  7. I have trouble with motivation too. Especially when I'm working on a game by myself. I'm not even sure why I try to make games without support. o.o
  8. Nothing. If you don't want to work on it, don't work on it. Nothing we say or do will help you. You have to WANT to work on it.
  9. Take a break for two weeks. Watching anime all time! << I did this when I burntout
  10. I like making games, so that's auto-created motivation lol also the "beauty" of finishing a game.
  11. You must want to see your ideas become a reality. If you don't feel that way about your game, then maybe you shouldn't work on it, or maybe you just need to enhance it and make it more interesting.

    Just like Indinera, I too almost never get burnt out, because I love what I'm doing when I make games, even the more tedious aspects of it, because I know in the end it will be worth it, in the end it will help me to get my game that much closer to being finished and experienced by others. Try to make the process of game-making as fun as possible for yourself.

    Also, don't make your goals too ambitious and unrealistic. Set your goals to a level appropriate to your current skill. Start small and simple and gradually go for more complex stuff. A lot of the time what puts us off are our own expectations that are way too high.
