Rules - Modifications and Plans for Ongoing Revisions to Rule #5

    Hi there, RMW!

    We wanted to go over the current modifications to rule #5.

    Much of it largely remains intact with minor clarifications in language. A few examples will be covered later to hopefully paint a picture of what is acceptable to post in terms of paid content. You will also notice that presently the biggest addition to rule #5 is still being worked on with the staff.

    Updates will be shared in this thread as soon as they become available.

    5. Do NOT advertise paid services or products in your signature, posts, or profile feed (please see our rules for profile feeds here).
    5.1. You may link to your personal site, game, forum, or resources in your signature.
    5.2. You may not advertise for commercial purposes EXCEPT for games made with a KOMODO-published engine.
    5.3. Crowdfunding and donations are permitted for game projects only. Direct links to your campaign/donation collection must be contained to your game thread. These campaigns must be related to your approved RPG Maker games. No exceptions.
    5.4. Do NOT advertise invites to your chat channels (Discord, Slack) in your post replies or status updates. What happens in those channels stays there. We do not moderate based on what happens in them. You may include a server invite for your game or let’s play community in your game or let’s play thread only. You may include Discord contact details in your signature.
    5.5. Do NOT offer or request commissions (including scripts and plugins) unless you have access to the Classifieds section and have made an approved thread.
    5.6. Do NOT offer your pre-made resources for sale in your threads, posts, signature, profile feed, or via PM. If you have pre-made resources you want to sell here, submit an official store submission.

    Note - If any links in your threads/signature eventually lead to your paid content, this is acceptable. Just do not advertise your paid content, donation links, etc.

    5.7. Pending additional collaboration with RMW staff, see below for interim details. **


    Example - You share a link to your website containing a free resource. The directory of your website has several tabs, one being a “for sale” tab, this is OK.

    You share a link to your website’s “for sale” tab directly in your signature, this is not OK. OR. You describe how to find your paid content without linking it, this is not OK

    **5.7 This item will pertain to resources that use a free-to-paid model. For example, resource models where the free version has limited function but a paid version enables more features.

    At this time we are greenlit for plugins and scripts (other resource types are being inquired about), though complete details on how the forum wishes to structure and navigate this remains incomplete.

    FOR NOW

    These resource models are still not permission to advertise commercial resources in the status feed, signature, or in thread responses. Due to this, we request a forum thread be created and used as the sharing point for these resources on these forums. Links within those threads can still lead to both the free and commercial components.
