Modern Day Tiles offset

  1. Hi all, I downloaded the Modern Day Tileset and I'm having a problem with its alignment (for lack of better word).
After reading/watching several tutorials (many since I got VX Ace), I think I've done everything correctly, but it seems the tiles have shifted a bit.  Maybe they're supposed to be that way, but then I can't get some of the tiles to line up. Maybe I'm doing/not doing something?
As a test I tried to create a bathroom using the same tiles as the bathroom in the second image, lower-right corner found here:
    http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/a/graphics/modern-day-tiles-resource-pack

In that image, the shower is against the sidewall.  When I try it, there's a gap:

Before that I noticed the bus stops were split.  Wasn't really an issue till I couldn't get the shower to line up:

Looking for a solution, I came across:

    http://rpgmaker.assets.s3-ap-northeast-1.amazonaws.com/files/Tileset_Importing_Guide.pdf

which uses the Modern Day tileset, but in 2nd to the last image in that PDF (sorry for the scrolling), the first row of tiles is blank, whereas mine is not:

I'd like to put that shower up against the sidewall.  Did I do something wrong?

    Any help's appreciated!
  2. If I recall correctly (as I have that tileset), the showers only meet the wall on one side. From the looks of it,
they only meet the wall on the left side. On the right, they'll leave a gap. To make them line up on the side
I wanted, I opened up the file in GIMP, and moved the shower graphics to the correct edge. If you tell GIMP

to use a 32x32 grid and snap to grid, life gets much easier.

    GIMP is free, BTW.

If image editting is new to you, there are tutorials on how to use the GIMP to edit tilesets. Here's one:

  3. Hey, thanks a lot for the quick reply. That was the solution my brain landed on first (only with Photoshop), but I was hoping to avoid it.
  4. I have most fo the tilesets available, and it's been my experience that most of them require some tile-bending
to really be used to their fullest.
  5. I believe some of the screenshots were of parallaxed maps.
  6. Well now why would they do that...?  Ah well, thanks for the replies.

If that's all it is, I guess we can close this one.
  7. Maybe to show how versatile the tileset is, and to show that you don't have to use it as-it-comes but can edit it a bit yourself if you want ;)
