"It all begins and ends with a song of Order and Chaos."

    Game Details/History:-
I'm not really a game designer, but for the longest time I've wanted to get a story of mine out there. Meta Revelations is essentially a name pertaining a universe with many, many adventures, but for the sake of being a game, I had to choose one of them.

Meta Revelations - Ring Spirits started as a writing art project in 2004 - 2006. (An old cringe-inducing draft of the original plot exists!) The premise was fairly simple - I wanted to make an RPG reminiscent of Legend of Dragoon and Breath of Fire. Those game series aren't ever really coming back, and with my own ideas intermixed with various influences, I wanted my own shot at making something original.

As I got older, I learned how to paint in photoshop and write better. There's a vast difference in quality of the art when I first started this project, compared to now. While it's easy to say that there is much more room for improvement - and I agree, I can't deny some of my pride on how far I've come with it.

That being said, I still have a ways to go. I've not finished a project in RPG Maker yet, and the fact that this is still in RPG Maker XP is another demonstration to that fact, I'm sticking with the ship till the end.

    Features:-
A roster of four party members.
Many interactables, such as bookshelves crammed with lore.
Nearly every NPC has a name.
    Two summonable creatures.
A tactical elemental system, where each element comes with it's own debuff property (Fire lowers attack, Eden lowers defense for example.)
A game with very heavy emphasis on the story (if you prefer games with more combat you may want to go elsewhere.)
About eight and a half hours of content.

    Several long cut-scenes are skippable.

Here's couple of the more recent changes:-

    Spoiler
    Changes are as follows:-
    - Fixed dialogue delivery with Zephyr
    - Fixed small spelling errors.
    - Found a severe progression stopper whereby if you spoke to Edwin Zykes and Tay twice in Kent, this would eventually lead to a massive sequence break later on.
    - Hid a special event that's not finished yet. - Fixed a softlock in the Agu summoning scene. - Fixed the dance scene crashing.
    - Fixed a nasty transition when exiting the Nomadic Village of Ember with Phinaxio. (I still don't know what caused this, but it works now.)
    - Managed to catch some exceptions where you shouldn't be allowed to fly. - Many, many original monster assets added! - Added more clarity to game objective
    - Fixed various errors based on feedback.
    - Fixed end of chapter 1 hard crashing
    - Fixed some animations "

    CREDITS:-

I quickly wrote up a credits document that was included with the download. I covered as many people as I could remember so if you're missing from the list, please let me know. I also include testers if you would like your name to be seen there. Optional Voice Over (WIP content) is credited but is unfinished and cannot be accessed yet. If you'd like to, drop in an Rxproj file and activate switch 539 for yourself to enable this feature.

    BONUS Concept Art:-

    Spoiler
All concept art was made by Zephyrsword, do not redistribute/sell without my permission.

  2. I think it's been more than long enough. I've updated the main thread with a new download link for a more up-to-date new version with a wealth of new artwork. I've also added more optional voice over, but this still can't be triggered without hacking.

The most important part of this is that it fixed crashing in the prologue when navigating a certain characters menu, which was caused by a name change down the line. On top of that, enemy approach Ai in the very first area was redone to be a little more unexpected.
  3. Think you should charge for this one bro, you put A LOT of work into this. Unless some assets aren't your then...
  4. The game was created initially in 2006, back in my secondary school years so some of the older resources have murky/unknown sources. On top of this just being a strong passion project, I'd like as many people as possible to experience it, so providing it for free is completely deliberate.

Any chance you can replace them? I initially used alot of ripped/rtp/rtpeditted stuff as well, but then I just went ahead and learned how to do it myself. even if you offer it at a low cost, it wouldn't hurt. You're just going to need to advertise HEAVY!
  6. I already have paid agreements with voice actors that the game won't be sold. I have a lot of graphics to preen (of which most credits you can view in the 'credits' notepad within the game zip folder) and it can't be seen to until the game is in a finished state. There's 8-9 hours of content with about a chapter unaccounted for (though most of it is in backend, including ending just not ready yet)

Again, this is 100% my passion project and game development isn't a career for me. It's a project that is dear to my heart though.

I'm happy to pay out of pocket to make it great without a return, while helping out other people in other talent fields with commission work (whether it be music or voice over or anything else.) I know this isn't an option for everyone, but this project is absolutely a special case for me as as a long term part of my life I spend a while on every afternoon.
  7. This game releases on Steam in less than three hours. The game remains free however, but this project is now considered completed.
