  1. With the Medieval Expansion and Medieval Heroes I packs squared away, I am jumping into the High Seas.

This thread is dedicated to showing previews of the upcoming High Seas resource pack.

  2. That looks so cool!
I love your art, it looks so real!
  3. Awesome! Looks similar to the start of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. :p
  4. Love the sand's texture. Is the water animationed?

    Thought the exact same.
  6. Beautiful work as always sir.
  7. I second the "Is the water animated". I really hope it is. A tileable animating water spritesheet would be awesome (and then if you want custom/paralax, use the non animated version.

    Plus, this looks great.
  8. This particular water is just a tileable square and is not inherently animated, though can very easily be animated using Galv's Layers plug-in (something I did in my own game using this water resource). An auto-tile will simply not look as good due to the rigid limitations of how MV handles auto-tiles. I can certainly make one, but if you are expecting to make a natural-looking coastline with it, it just won't happen; everything in the RPG Maker software map editor is designed very rigidly to a square grid. You can soften the curves of an auto-tile so its not 90 degrees, but you will never not have it follow a grid.
  9. Thanks!

And - Oh yea, I absolutely get the restrictions on RPGMakers tiles :) But its nice to have that option. I usually combine the two - a base map of autotiles with decals overtop to remove the 90/45 degree angles.

Worked on refining the vegetation I had, and with the help from my fiancee, made another sand decal that better represents what a tropical beach actually looks like (she very much enjoyed our trips to Puerto Rico!) - Working on some new buildings to create a tropical/pirate-like town, though I want the buildings to be "general" enough to be mixed in with all the other buildings from the other sets as well so you can have a wider variety in your towns, tropical or not.
  11. I think if you want something general enough, port towns are a way to go. That's pretty much a given I'd expect.

Perhaps this image might be of inspiration?

Another possibility to include for this pack is a lighthouse. Alternately think of Braavos if you've watched Game of Thrones to get an idea if you want to do something more exotic.
  12. This is excellent! This is a very important type of scene/theme that I would need in my Ultima-inspired project. Looking forward to the release.

A look at a few more buildings, foliage, and ground decals. The buildings are unique to the High Seas resource pack, but should be able to fit in with buildings from other resource packs as well.
  14. I’m speechless. That’s the ideal place for salty seamen. Hopefully with eye patches and cutlasses.
  15. *Throws CC at screen* gimmie!!
  16. Will the pack include monsters, like a giant crab, or some kind of Woodoo thing?

Some ship work - huge pain in the butt, but got the big ship in 8 directions, and it will come in a couple of pieces. The main bottom layer will be what you place your objects and characters on, and can overlay the masts, rigging, ropes, etc as a separate piece so items and characters can be behind the masts and sails and what not.
  18. Holy ship! I’m looking forward to this one.
  19. I second the Holy Ship comment. Looks great. Super glad youre providing layers so we can have people move on them and be behind the sails, etc. Cant wait!

Edit: An scaled down, animated 48x48 version of the ship, would be amazing. By animated mean 3 (or whatever) frames of animation in, at minimum, the cardinal directions. The frames are typically sails moving, and some water ripples that look like waves when overlayed on a water tile.

Edit: I guess I should mentioned why (even though its obvious) - so we can use the ship for an overworld map, etc.
  20. Absolutely beautiful as always! Loving this pack and dreaming of all the beautiful beaches I can make with it!
