I've tried searching, but I have yet to find a good tutorial or explanation on how to MAKE your own tiles. Other people have plenty of splendid tiles and sprites, but I'd like to be ABLE to make my own. Case in point, I give myself permission to use my tiles for a commercial project. Know what I mean? So if you know how or where or with what I can make my own tiles, I would be very pleased. Thanks!

Well I'm no expert but first you'll need to have software like gimp or Photoshop. Also you'll need to understand the autotiles. Also its good to know how to use offset to make sure your tiles are seamless (so they can repeat). I'd like to see someone make a tile from scratch though, it would be a good learning experience. There are a few videos on YouTube that show the process but its a bit hard to follow.

Celianna has some tutorials on this site. On phone so can't give a link but click on the links at the top right of this page and you'll find them.

Those are Lunarea's tutorials not Celianna's. Celianna did the one about how much work it is. I had a whole list of them somewhere. Ah, here they are.

I would highly suggest reading the section on resource standards in the help file. It'll make all the difference. Lunarea's tutorials aren't quite as helpful if you aren't making an RTP styled tileset but it's not a bad place to start. If you have questions after reading all of that I'd be happy to help. -
here's a tutorial on youtube that i watched for tile sets and sprites. Hope it helps you

Thanks, everyone. These were all helpful, though making the tilesets will still be an arduous process.

It is but I think it's worth it. Feel free to ask if you have more questions about the process.
