Ok, so i read the post on not trying to get rpgm to work on ds, psp, etc.... Is there a way to get it to work on a linux based OS? In my case fedora? Or would that take a lot of code rewriting etc etc...

Anyone that uses Linux should be a genius at computers, so why are you using Linux (not to be rude or anything)?

I've used Windows my entire life, and only used a Linux OS for maybe a day, but the best advise I can give you is to get Wine.

This might be able to give you some direction. It is instructions on how to have it work under Ubuntu.

Next option you could have it to use Virtual Box - https://www.virtualbox.org/. Along with a valid copy of Windows you can run Windows applications in a virtual environment. Fedora 14-17 is supported under Virtual Box. If you have a OEM PC that you formatted with Linux then you can easily use that product key and discs. Or you can purchase a inexpensive copy on Newegg.com.

I dunno, that was pretty damn rude. Have you considered he may be new to the OS? Or wants to use a free OS? Or that, just because you're good at computers, doesn't mean you know every little thing about every single program that's been created? That asking a forum that focuses solely on said program may be a good place to start finding a solution to his problem? /ranting

@Warmaster: WINE can get some of the RMs working, but by far the easiest solution is running a Win virtual box. I use Ubuntu myself, and that's how I do it. A little clunky, but it's easy to setup, and you never need to worry about OS/program issues.

It doesn't matter if you're new to the OS. General rule is you should be a programmer and/or very tech savvy before you attempt to use the platform. Windows is a far superior platform otherwise. I haven't even used Linux more than a day, and I know about Wine. You can run almost every Windows application if you setup Wine on your Linux OS.

Ubuntu is designed for all stages of users; novices and experts. There are multiple flavors of it too, and thus varies in "requirements" of the user. Ubuntu is a very user friendly OS and can be used by anyone. In fact, I've been using Ubuntu etc etc since 2000 and I had zero knowledge of the OS when I started. After all, that's one of its purposes. :)

To the OP, please see my thread on installing RMVX/ACE in Ubuntu. There is only but one small issue currently, and it is explained in the thread and can be "cured", so to speak. If you experience any issues or you don't understand anything, please say so in the thread and I will be more than glad to help you. :)

P.S

With the thread's guide, you will be able to run RMVX and ACE smoothly—e.i without any slowdowns (except when you first open the program) or whatnot. I've tried installing through PlayOnLinux, but it crashes in various places, so WINE is currently the only solution for a single Ubuntu computer.
