Limit Quantity of Items in Shop

Hello, I'm wondering if it's possible to limit the number of a specific item that a player can purchase from a shop. For example, I want the player to only be able to buy 3 potions before the shop is "out of inventory" of that item. Would something like this be possible?

this is usually done by plugin, because it is not in the regular shop options.

You could try the EIS Shop System plugin. I haven't used it, but from the description it sounds like it would be useful.
