  2. Looks kind of like some retro game of eighties with a better resolution.

    Very NES like.
  3. Yes! We are going for 100% custom graphics here NO RTP at all!
  4. Roman or any ancient history has always peeked my interest. In the art form and historic form, I look forward to this game it looks like something I would enjoy.
  5. I can clearly see NES vibe from the game, good job!
  6. We are recreating the roman world in this game, from the aqueducts to temples, public baths and everything else! Our lead developer is a history major and has been researching the history or Rome for years.
  7. Some mapping criticism.

Even though art assets seems to be made for this project, it would nice to have perspective right for that table and the ship.

Unless it is intended by design.

The ship is still very much a work in progress, I wanted it to be completely one work but there is some debating going on, and finding accurate pictures of war/transport ships from the roman republic is very hard.

I assume you mean the large table with the food and wine on it? I do think the legs should be bigger on it.
  9. Oh, it is mat not a table. My bad.

Problem with 8-bit style is that it is sometimes hard to make it out what something is.

I always loved the idea of old school 8 bit, it forced the developer to really do there job to make a good game since they cannot rely on pretty graphics.
  11. Bump/Update

Yes we are still working on the game! Well I am...our fearless leader got into Soul Eater again..oh god. Anyways! I am making expanding/adding new things to the game world, like beautiful statues, like statues of me! Behold the beautiful goddess Shelby! Worship me!

  12. This looks pretty neat. The only thing I'd point out is maybe removing the background blurring from menus (and possibly transparency, or unifying pixel sizes), to really hone in on the hard pixel style.

Otherwise, looks like a cool idea!

Hmm I am pretty sure that is just from taking the low rez screenshot while ingame. I am not sure what we are gonna with with the char portraits though, I want to add in some background but I don't have 100% say in that. Still we are in the early stages so good things will keep coming!
  14. I can't tell if this game is just poorly mapped or if that's a design choice

    ... ?
I don't think it's so "poorly mapped"; it is often difficult to see the full perspective from a few screenshots -- but I would not be so critical from what I see.
