Kids Vs Adults (Sprites)

Hi! Is there any special way to design kids versus adults? I'm using the MAC sized sprites in this upcoming project and multiple people have noted "oddly sized sprites"...  Here's an example...  And yes, I've since fixed the pillars...

I honestly can't see it (Not trying to be rude, I seriously must be blind to it!)...

Is there any way I can make child-sized sprites? Would simply resizing not cover it? Would using the sprite generator built into VX Ace be okay or would there be some kind of clash?

I'm glad somebody found this before I progressed further!

Yes, it does look very weird. The resized girl in the middle doesn't match the rest, nor does the chibi sprite. You should choose one format and stick with it. That means you DO need to start with a base for a child sprite.

If I'm gonna be honest, I do think even that girl with the brownish hair doesn't seem to fit with herself...

The problem really is with the clashing styles used... Those "adult" sprites has a different style than the chibi ones, and that puts the whole thing off. You would need to make the adults taller than the kids while retaining the same art style if you want to make them fit.

Just take a look at how the child sprite on the RTP was made vs how the other sprites in the RTP is made, that should give you an idea

Yes, the lowest one on the right side? She's a different style too. I had noticed that, but forgot to list it with the others.

@Shaz, Ay, I see it now... The worst part was the maid, nuns and clerics were all made using the mack sprite generator (As was the girl in the center, just resized)

But even so they all look like they're different somehow... I must agree that mixing chibi with non-shibi simply won't gel for this x__X

I suppose I'll have to keep looking for a free sprite generator software.

yeah, you'd need to decide which one you really want to keep (chibi or mack style) then hopefully find resources for both child and adult sprites

I don't know of any sprite generators that cater for child sprites. Not even the built-in one. Simply BECAUSE they use different bases.

I found these sprites in my own searches for Mack style children... unfortunately I can't figure out where I got them or their terms of use. If anyone else knows, please let us know!

Okay, so I'm not 100% sure, but if I remember correctly Mack made that base to go with the generator. I have that base as well and found it on Mack's old resources blog. It's down unfortunately, so I can't verify it. :/

I know I got it from an older forum talking about Mack sprites, but for the life of me I just can't seem to relocate it.
