Is multi-layer parallax possible in VX? (Not ACE)

  1. Hello, everyone. Hope I'm posting in the right section, given I'm not asking for a script. (Though it may be the solution in the end)

I do not need an animated parallax background, as I already have that script, and works just fine in the spots I need it to.

What I need, is a scene with a seagull flying, seen from above. The ocean is of course at the bottom, moving downwards and slightly to the left (This is my parallax background). I want the layer of clouds on this video scrolling faster than the ocean, but also below the seagull:

    [embedded media]

And I'd also like some clouds passing above the seagull at a much faster speed.

So, is there a way to make two background parallaxes scroll simultaneously? Or set a fog beneath an event (in this case the seagull), while another fog scrolls faster above the seagull?

I've already tried looping the room, setting the clouds below the event, and using the player to drag the camera, but it gives me a perfect 45-degree movement, and it messes up the fog when the player reaches the edge of the room, making it blink in and out of the screen. (In essence, I need three different scrolling layers, instead of just two)

Thanks for any advice or pointers.
  2. this completely depends on the scripts you're using to enable the parallax mapping.

Often it's called "overlay" mapping instead of "parallax" mapping, and I know such scripts were available for Ace but I have no idea if they exist for VX - search for overlay mapping instead of parallax mapping and maybe you get lucky.
  3. Seems that Hanzo Kimura had made a script for that, and a request made in this forum for such went unanswered. I'll post in the script request section, just in case. Thanks.
  4. or just report your post and ask a mod to move it :)
  5. I found the script as you were posting that, Shaz, thanks for the advice. Now I just need help figuring out how to use it. Anyone?
