Hi, I'm looking at a buying a new game making software. Specifically I want something that can help me easily make action rpgs, with deep crafting and inventory systems and that comes with good graphic assets.
Do you know if IGM has a built in inventory system like in RPG Maker? Same question for crafting and for the graphics (RPG maker comes with a heap of amazing graphic assets, how does IGM compare? Can I use RPG maker graphic tile sets in an IGM game?).
Edit: another question, does it have an inbuilt shop system like in rpg maker?
Edit 2: I just read the reviews on Amazon Japan, and some people say that you need a dedicated program to play the games you make with IG maker, is this true or does it export to an exe file that can be played on any windows computer powerful enough?
Also I downloaded some games made with IG maker from the Japanese website but when I tried to play them I got the error : d3dx9_39.dll is missing. This makes me worry, because I am pretty sure my computer is fully updated (windows 7 64 bit), and if I am getting this issue then I imagine others I give my games to will get the same problem. Or is this because I need the special game player mentioned above?

Hi Yasha! Let me see if I can answer these to your liking.
IGM isn't specifically set up to make a crafting or inventory system, however it is entirely possible. It would take a bit of work to get it going just right, but honestly there is no reason you couldn't get really involved with it and end up with a crafting system similar to that of TESV: Skyrim or something. The depth that IGM has is really impressive, but it does require spending some time doing unusual things with the program to figure out what all you can truly accomplish. I highly recommend reading through this thread for more info on what is possible: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/1481-theories-unusual-ways-to-use-ig-maker/
IGM does come with a good bit of graphics which you can find here: http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download/sample#ig
Beyond those free resources you absolutely can use most of the resources for the RPG Maker programs. It is just a matter of finding the ones set up for IGM, or even taking the ones that aren't set up for IGM and getting them to work. For the most part though, most things will copy over seamlessly. Also it is important to keep in mind that in order to legally use those graphics in your IGM games you need to have bought whatever RPG Maker program so that you can use resources from its RTP (that's how I understand it anyway, and I can get you a more definitive answer if you like from someone higher up than I am).
There isn't an inbuilt shop system, but again that is something IGM is capable of and it would not be hard to set up. There are options for items, values, and things that make this very possible and the freedom of not having a preset system gives you the option for customizing and styling to your liking.
I have never heard of needing a dedicated program. IGM has the ability to export to SWF and EXE which are playable on websites and computers running windows respectively. The only thing I've ever ran into making something uncompatible was people not having DirectX installed which is required for EXE files. This is also the problem that you ran into when you tried to play the sample games. It's a very simple fix that only requires you update DirectX on your computer (or install it if not already installed). Other people will have this issue from time to time, but most people that play games on their Windows PCs will have DirectX installed and up-to-date. Thanks for the detailed response Kain! I've downloaded the demo and will have a play around with it for a while and see if I can get something happening.
