Hello. I'm Gary (just joined today),retired & disabled, so I've a lot of time on my hands. As a side-hobby, I spend time kit-bashing card stock models of Medieval structures. Playing RPG video & board games have been a big part of my life (with the early Final Fantasy series being my favorite, and with Chrono Trigger and Legend of Mana close behind), so I figured it was time for me to attempt making a small game for my own fun. The graphics & style of RPGmaker VX Ace really appeal to me and I hope I can make myself complete what ever game I begin creating. I'm looking forward to using the many tutorials available here.
Here's to what II hope will be a rewarding experience with what appears to be a challenging, interesting program, and to the large family of forum members!

Welcome to the group! ^_^
As for tutorials, there are many but these may be a good place to start.
Scripting tutorials: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?%2Ftopic%2F5554-ruby-scripting-tutorial-videos-vx-and-vx-ace%2F
Variables example and tutorial: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/10099-variables-guide/
Various other tutorials: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/15135-a-list-of-tutorials-for-beginners/
Then there is this one that tells how damage is calculated in an easy to read flowchart, though it is probably somewhere in the "Various other tutorials" list. http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/4219-rpg-maker-vxace-damage-flow/
Anyway, have fun!
