Image White Background

so I have saved an image and when $ is not placed in front it has a transparent background. But when I place $ in front it’s background is white. I’m trying to make a wolf the main actor.

$ makes the image count as one character sprite as a whole (three columns, four rows). How is your sheet layed out?

My sheet is layed our three columns, four rows. But the images on the sheet are slightly larger than normal sprites; like a horses sprite. I’m using one of whtdragon’s wolves

The size doesn't matter as long as the frames are the same size. In any case, I don't know how this would come about. Alpha info is stored in the file and I'm not sure the editor has anything to do with that I think.
