I'm desperate here... Please help! REGIONS!

  1. My first post here, so I'm not familiar with how things work here but I'll state my issue regardless.
(Also note, I don't know how to use JavaScript. I'm trying to learn as I go, first focusing on the engine,
later intending to learn fine programming to stay focused on one task.)

So basically my problem is that I want my character to move slower in certain tiles, and faster in the others.
Now, now I have searched various threads from different posts and tried some plugins, like this one for example:
    http://yanfly.moe/2015/10/19/yep-17-region-events/
(I tried making this plugin work for 4 hours to no avail, it wouldn't budge)

    Also this:

    And various others...
Now with the help of these posts, I managed to somehow make it possible for the player to slow down when using the keyboard.
I have been deleting and re-doing the whole process over and over and over endlessly to try to make it also work with the mouse to no avail.

Basically what happens is that once the player swaps speeds, the route of movement(or the destination chosen with the mouse) stops, and player has to click again to move.
Now I figured that constantly setting the speed in events did this, so I made various variables to make it run only once.

However even though I did this the problem still persisted because no matter even though it runs only
once, once the player swaps to another Region the mouse movement stops.
(I want my game working on both Android and PC).
To give you an idea of what I mean take a look: KjJV1m.png
Basically on the Region 0, or in other words the tile that is not marked,
I want it to be normal speed, then on Region 1 I want it slightly slower, and on finally Region 2 I want it to move like a turtle.

I managed to get this to work on keyboard, although right now I don't have that here because I kept re-doing the process.
    Problem is with the mouse...

Once player moves from Region 0 to Region 1 the path-finding of the mouse stops and player has to
click again, which in this case if the map looked exactly like above would probably be a minor thing, however...

If you have something like THIS:
    hsAOrT.png
Now obviously this is a very ugly looking thing, but I just wanted to show it off as an example.
When I have a case like this, as you can see...
The player having to constantly click every time they swap from Region to
another Region, due to path-finding getting disrupted because the player's speed changed is simply absurd.

I have been banging my head and searching for full 2 days now, can't seem to forget about this issue even when I'm trying to sleep this keeps crossing my mind.
I'd like to avoid programming in JavaScript, because like I said, I don't know how to use it.
Although if that's the only solution I'll try...

In any case if you have a working solution to the matter PLEASE, PLEASE... share with me. I'm really desperate. :(

    Thanks in advance,

    - Zei
  2. Do you want mouse movement in your final version?
  3. Yes, I want both mouse and keyboard movement. The game I'm making is supposed to be working flawlessly in HTML5.

Basically, for people from both Android and PC to be able to play without issues.
  4. What other plugins are you using that mess with regions? The simplest way to do this would just put the regions on the edge of were ever the tiles begin. If that doesn't work use events instead of regions that changes the player speed through the movement route command.

What do you mean "Put the Regions on the edge of where ever the tiles begin"? I already used the movement route command and couldn't get it to work. Like I said, whenever I used that command it breaks pathway created when you pressed with the mouse.
I also ran a few experiments if it would work with events, same thing whenever speed changes pathways stop and you have to press again.

I tried setting it also with a timer as an experiment when the game starts to change speeds after a while, the same thing repeats.
I honestly have no ideas left on what I can do.

And about the plugins thing, the only one I used was that one I mentioned, because all the others didn't fit the category of my issue.
If you have a tested plugin that works and can solve my problem, I'd gladly appreciate if you can link it.
  6. Ok so if you're not using any other plugins then the Yanfly one should be all you need. I'll see if I can walk you through it.

    1) Make a common event (Let's say it's the fourth slot) and in the common event set up a movement route command that changes the player speed to 3x.

    2) Now open up the map editor in the box that says Note and put this in without the quotation marks "<Region 1 Event: 4>". Now the region 1 tag will call the fourth common event when the player steps on it.
  7. Ok, that got the plugin to work, however I got to this point even without the plugin via using X and Y player variables and checking the Region ID
of the player. The real issue starts once the speed is changed, then the player stops and movement route of the mouse is stopped which turns me back to square 1.
You can try and and see for yourself if you don't want to believe me, once I try messing with that movement command it stops the path-finding which was made previously by the player pressing on a tile.

I just need to get a way to get around that stop which happens whenever the Region is changed somehow...
It's all the same stuff I mentioned in the first post, in other words the core of my issue.:kaodes:
  8. Sorry I didn't catch that part. Yeah I can't see what to do to fix that. The best thing you could do until someone who knows Java come to work it out is to work around the problem, Again just have the region at the where the tiles that will slow down the player will be and leave the rest blink. This could even act as an indicator when the player is effected by the tiles.
  9. So as I thought, it wasn't possible without doing JavaScript...
I guess I'll do without it for now. I'll only make the Regions affected by slowdown large, so the stop doesn't happen often.
In any case, I appreciate attempting to solve my problem, a bit saddened we weren't able to solve it, but thanks anyways.
