Yesterday and wednesday I got almost no work done on the game, so I'm looking to take that back today and over the weekend. My goals for today are to complete the functional part of the automated battle system for the heroes, and give them some basic "AI".

Doing face sets, items, and hopefully the rest of my battlers today. Goldstorm is working on the maps today and maybe a bit on the battle system.
-
Evented some jump scares and other stuff today.
Blood-Fury helps out by parallax mapping and stuff like that. -
You're the worst. :stare:

I quite love editing face sets. Moving the eyebrows just a little in Photoshop changes the range of emotion so much! I'm sure I'll find a few things to touch up again but I never concern myself with making things too symmetrical because real humans are certainly not symmetrical! This is the girl character in our project. Her name is Noreen. She's a bit meek and subdued. Definitely sweet as well. But she's more knowledgeable than her companion.

-
Oh I love her and her range of expressions!
-
@ mlogan Thank you. I think she came out pretty adorable. ^_^
I finished the boy character's sheet. His name is Craig. I don't think he came out as expressive as Noreen, but maybe that's because his eyes aren't as giant and shiny. I'll work on it some more. He's a bit of a puppy dog character. Very loyal and willing to learn. He has a few more odd expressions because of a tavern scene.

Once again today was a dead end as far as working goes.
It's OK though. I fully plan to make up for it starting tomorrow. I'll be off work until the 23rd. That works for me. Game Dev 8 hours a day, every day (but Thursday-that's my anniversary-only thing I'll be working on then is (dirty joke removed))!
So, right now, going to get things ready for D&D/GURPS tonight. -
You're seasoned game maker or something with this stuff?
"30 days? Bah, I only need 10 to win."
Still, it is not all about winning the money. -
Good Lord, this contest is pushing me beyond my limits. I'm writing a lot of jazz music. My version of jazz is hitting my head on the keyboard until the notes and rhythms make no sense.

I'm sorry, I don't quite follow you here. I am by no means a seasoned game maker; quite contrariwise, I'm in SCHOOL to BECOME one, and development of this game will take very nearly every day of the cycle (and in pointed fact, apart from yesterday, today, and last Monday, I have put in at LEAST 5 hours a day on it). I have no illusions of actually winning, although the $10,000 WOULD pay my house up for the next four years. You're seasoned game maker or something with this stuff?

Then again, I could be taking this the wrong way, and it very well may not have been directed towards me in the least! Text is a TERRIBLE medium for communication.
At any rate, no, I don't think I have this in the bag, nor do I feel that winning is the end all goal. I'll be just as happy with (well, not JUST as happy) the $10 gift card thingy. Ultimately, that COUNTS as an award, and then I can tell people "I MADE AN AWARD WINNING GAME!" (The details, man, who care about them!?!?!)
Check out Marcus Miller and Andy McKee. They'll inspire you to new heights of AWESOME. (Jazz is my MAIN music-I play(ed) guitar. Unfortunately, due to injuries, I'm not as able as I once was)Good Lord, this contest is pushing me beyond my limits. I'm writing a lot of jazz music. Attempting to get something, anything done today to help make up the loss of time the last couple of days. I tinkered a bit with some events. I think now I'm going to do some spriting that needs to be done. We'll see how much gets accomplished in the next hour or two.
-
Today I am working on the dialogue. I hope also to put where certain events shall happen, and will also be sketching out character designs. My brother is going to help me with this project, so I am hoping on Sunday he can work on all of the backgrounds while I start recording the voice work.
-
Hope you had a nice trip ^_^
For the sake of keeping on topic...
Today I wrote a few scripts... splash scene, title scene, redone the menu scene.
Also ordered my script list - getting it a little neater day by day...

My Quest system–which handles if the equipment you've sold the heroes means victory or defeat, or somewhere in between–is almost good to go. I need to implement the front side of it, but the systems are all in place sans a few kinks (infinite potions is not a feature...)
I love the console for debugging these things quickly:

Didn't really get that much done today; all I really worked on in my game was a cutscene.
Unrelated to my game I did finish playing To the Moon today (which both inspired me and was partly the cause of my lack of work today...)
So, things for tomorrow:
1. Still need to put together at least the plot-important book
2. Eventing, as always
3. Thinking about changing out my evented HUD for a script; I mean it works, but it's also a bit of a mess to deal with (or at least I'll probably change out the pictures I'm using)
4. I should really get to work on the credits as well (I'm pretty sure I have everything now, so I should be able to put them in-game without too much problem) -
I don't think I could code anything with out that little console box. the p command is my best friend ;)

Wuh-oh..... As a jazzman this concern me! :pGood Lord, this contest is pushing me beyond my limits. I'm writing a lot of jazz music. My version of jazz is hitting my head on the keyboard until the notes and rhythms make no sense.

I kind of just write music by ear. Any theory (and I never bothered with the technical words) I know is a product of transcribing music and noticing patterns. I just have a round about way of describing things. :D

I made a sewer puzzle, and by puzzle I mean you jump for a good minute or 2, get 3 treasures. Then visit the sewer fairy. Then answer some pirate quizes about...hmmm....what type of questions should they ask?
HERE'S THE MAP (Incomplete...missing some pipes and pirates. But I'm too tired to go on).

Learned a lot about mapping and scripting today. Will apply this knowledge to future projects.
