Idea for new addition to "Classifieds Section" : categorized services offered / providers

    Just a thought ...


    I was browsing the classifieds offers section since I plan to commission some work in the future for a commercial idea I'm developing.


    It occurred to me it might be a valuable asset for members who offer services, as well as those who request them, to have a category based classifieds-directory section that is organized in two ways:

    • Category by Service Offered / Service Provider
    • Service Provider member directory in alpha order / service provided / contact info
    This is so potential customers can quickly find the game service they need and its provider, a kind of One-Stop-Shop.

    For the first one, Category by Service Offered / Service Provider, it could potentially be organized as:


    Categories


    Music & Audio: soundracks, themes, voiceovers, sfx, etc (format - name banner + spoiler for extra info, commission rates, samples [?])

    • Member / Member Company 1
    • Member / Member Company 2
    • Member / Member Company 3
    • et cetera
    Artwork: sprites, portraits, full figure, animations, backgrounds, windowscreens, etc.
    • Member / Member Company 1
    • Member / Member Company 2
    • Member / Member Company 3
    • et cetera
    Scripts: optional sub-categories by type
    • Member / Member Company 1
    • Member / Member Company 2
    • Member / Member Company 3
    • et cetera
    Additional Categories: (as needed)

    Categories can include any and all types of services currently offered.


    Perhaps a star review system and a separate link to customer / member review of the providers and their work can be incorporated.


    For the second suggestion, Service Provider Member directory in alpha order / service provided / contact info, this could be of value if the game developer seeking commission work already know a name of the person they want to work with but want to double check that person's specialty service and contact information.

    TAGS! I must confess I am new to using forums and their conventions, BB Code, tags, and the like. In fact, since I purchased RPG Maker VX Ace in February and joined this forum I had not participated in forums at all.

    So after I read your response I had to search on what tags were (Wordpress describes them as indexing "heat maps", I like that term) and how to use them (er ... click on them, duh :p ).

    I guess an old dog can be taught new tricks. :guffaw:
