Hello! As you can guess by the title I'm trying to make a game similar to the style and gameplay of the Disgaea series.
I was wondering if anyone knows which rpg maker program that would be great for. The game I have in mind has it's combat and cutscences simliar to Disgaea (note I'm using Disgaea as a comparison to try and make a point)
If it helps, Im basically trying to make a an Isometric 2-D turnbased RPG...but I have no idea which rpg maker to use...I need help. >_>
I need help choosing an RPG maker program

There are already several topics comparing the different makers and their advantages or disadvantages - you can look around the forum to find them and get a lot of info and opinions on that.
That said, the short version:
1) No RM has support for isometric maps. It is possible to make a parallax map that pretends to be isometric, but it will not be truly isometric - check the screenshots of the product pages (not only for the maker, also for the graphic add-ons) to see what is possible with them as fas as mapping goes.
2) I have no idea what kind of combat Disgea uses. It is always better to describe a mechanic without comparing it to a game that only a small part of the community has ever played.
You can download the sample game Crysalis for free to see what the default combat looks like, and there are one or two dozen scripts that change the battlesystem into something else (including big changes like making the RM an action battle system on the maps).
If you are unsure, I suggest downloading the 30-day-trials for all the makers, that will help you see what the different makers have advantages or disadvantages without paying anything. In the case of RM Ace, you can also download Ace Lite which does not have any time limitations, but is limited in the number of objects/maps you can use in the games made with it. -
Get vx ace.
@Andar you can make isometric games in rpg maker (through scripts).
Here is a link to the battle system you will need: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/16085-gubids-tactical-battle-system-v24-for-ace/?hl=%2Btactical+%2Bbattle -
Thank you so much for replying, you've been a big help. I suppose I should've not been lazy and resarched it, but this info really helps so thank's a lot
