  1. I recently got RPG Maker Ace, after being a LONG time user of VX, and decided I may as well get the DLC with it. The DLC I got for Ace was Adventurer's Journey, Royal Tileset, and Tyler Warren's First 50 Battler set. After installing Ace, I see that it appears as though I have none of these, regardless that they show up as being installed. Is there something I'm missing? Please note that you may have to explain things to me like I'm 5, I've been going solo at this for a while now and I guess you could say now's the first time I've ever asked for help.

I also have a few quick little questions. Firstly, what's with the tiles, how come the default number of tiles available is so low? I only have half a page of tiles, most of which don't even allow me to make a house or proper flooring.

In VX, I recall there being a feature where you were able to edit whether or not a player was able to walk over a certain kind of tile, but I don't see that as an option. Is that still do-able, or did Ace make it to where they pretty much decided all the tiles for you?

I was goofing around with some of the default tiles and I was getting damaged by walking over some of them. Some tiles have special effects to them? How can I change this?

  2. You have to import resources you want to use into your project.  That way you only include the resources you are actually using, not everything that you own.

The tiles are add-ons, They are not a complete RTP, but extras so that you can vary your game.  That is why the tile sheets are not completely full.  Ace is not like VX, you are not tied to one tile set for the whole game, you can have a different tile set for every map if you want to.  You select what you want from whatever resources you have, put them on to the tile sheets in an image programe (GIMP, Photoshop, paint.NET, or whatever) and then import them.

You alter the passability in the database, on the tilesets tab.  So choose there which tiles the player can walk on.

On that tab you will see that there are various special effects you can put on the tiles.  The swamp tile, by default, gives damage and I assume that is the tile you are referring to.  Change the settings as you wish.

Could I suggest that you have a look at Andar's excellent compilation of vital stuff for people new to Ace.  There are significant differences between VX and Ace, plus loads of things that are now possible in Ace that VX never thought of.  You can find it here: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/14727-a-starting-point-for-new-users-v08/?hl=+starting%20+point%20+users

It will save you a lot of time and frustration if you get the differences now, rather than later.
