How to make battlers change with alternate costumes?

this may be a really dumb question, but is it possible to make sv battlers change their appearance when you change the actor graphic? As far as i know, doing that only changes the actors sprite and portrait. I'm going to have alternate costumes in my game that the player can switch between in the items menu, and I want the battlers to reflect the costumes as well. Can anyone help?
