How to fix sprite overlapping with each other?

I made a hidden door event using a bookshelf. However, I saw that the sprites of the hero and the bookshelf are overlapping each other when the hero approached the bookshelf from right or left.

Does someone here know how to fix this?

Because the bookself is bigger then 32x32. You could add 2 empty events (priority: same as character) to the left and right of the bookshelf. Then just add the same move route for those invisible events in your action triggered event.

Actually, I'm not sure that that would work. When I was trying to figure out what was going on with my event this is what I learned. If the graphic you are using is larger than 32 x 32, it centers it around a 32 x 32 space starting with the bottom middle. So with that bookcase it is taking the middle 32 pixels on the bottom half, and the centering a remaining 16 pixels on either side.

This is the image I made when I was trying to figure out how it was drawing the graphic, and the answer is, it is like the one in the top right. The pink is the bookcase in this instance and the black square is the "event" so to speak.



That is why I made the attached character sheet with an "extra row". It is now centered over 3 tiles wide.

If you add blank events to either side, it will prevent you from walking directly next to the bookcase, because there will be that "empty" 16 pixels on either side still.

I hope my explanation makes some kind of sense.

Is it not just an incorrect passability set on the tileset? NVM... It wouldnt be if using the bookshelf as an event graphic. ..

Right, but then how do you want it to work? Either you block the character from those tiles, or the character will overlap (or the bookcase will overlap the character). What's the alternative? The only other thing you could do is make the bookcase fill 3 full columns. I think the OP just wants to prevent the overlap.

I do have some questions:

1. How can you activate an event in front of the player if the player standing on another event? For example my hero goes to a room and he need to open a door in front of him, but he cannot do that because he also standing on transfer map event. How can you solve that?
2. How can I add multiple event on a tile?
3. How can I make a room remember its state? As you can see, goes into the secret door and when my hero went back the secret door returned to its original state.

Probably what I would do (and there might be more efficient ways) is right after the fade out but before the transfer, I would have the original bookshelf event erase using a switch and have that same switch activate a new bookcase event where you want it to be from that point on. Does that make sense?
