I'd love it if someone could please let me know the process and what you would use to edit this image so that I could just put in the 6 movement directions from the bottom left straight into RPG maker VX Ace to use as a character. I have many just like this so I'd really appreciate it if someone knew how to do that :) I currently have Rpg maker VX Ace, game character hub, and stuff like paint.net at my disposal. Also I'm kinda a total noob to this whole thing so I'd appreciate the help!
How to edit an image to RPG maker format?

What do you mean 6 deractions? If you want to use it as a character sprite for the game I can edit it quickly for you. :)
-
oh i guess I was totally mistaken XD not 6 directions my bad ;b i meant the part you can put in to have all the movement for the sprite :) and that'd be awesome! thank you! but could you also tell me how to do that because I have quite a few more I need to edit to use that are just like this :)
-
Sure thing, :D I'll just edit it and then try to explain it to you using this as an example just give me couple of minutes.

no problem! thank you so much!!! solves a ton of my problems!! :D

The default character size for RPG Maker VX Ace is 32 by 32, the character you wanted to be used was a little over that though.
This is an example ow how the default character looks and the comparesment of the space that the character is set in (the grey boxes)
One character sheet can have up to 8 characters. You also have to remember where to put the animation, as you can see the still animation should always be in the middle, so that in the game while your not doing anything the character will use the middle picture to indicate that.

If you would like to use a bigger sprite that 32 by 32 then you have to double the space, and change it to 64 by 64, if that is still to little then add 32 again, and again, until you'll have the number you desire, just remember to add 32 to the wight as well as the length of the sprite.
I hope that helped a bit, if you still have any questions feel free to ask. :)

you are a life saver!! but also I would love to know what program or how you extracted just that section of the picture to use and edit and how that is done :)
-
Also I might be doing something wrong but after I Import it into rpg maker as $metalgreymon sprite.png when I go to use it as a character graphic I have to scroll over to get it to see the image and when I select it nothing appears the space stays blank

I used a Photoshop CS 6, it's an expensive program though XD I invested in it since I draw a lot on the computer, but you can use something as simple as paint, or gimp, if you really want you can use Paint Tool Sai as well. If you ever want to be a pixel artist I would also suggest to buy Graphics Gale, it's a great program to use, especially for animation. I'm not sure what kind of a program you use so I can't really tell you how to use it, but I simply selected the image, cleaned the blue space and the rearranged it to suit the RPG Maker VX ACE style. :D You can find a tons of tutorials how to use gimp or paint on youtube. :)you are a life saver!! but also I would love to know what program or how you extracted just that section of the picture to use and edit and how that is done :)
Could you use a screenshot to let me see what exactly is going on? :D It is working perfectly fine on my RPG Maker. Also I might be doing something wrong but after I Import it into rpg maker as $metalgreymon sprite.png when I go to use it as a character graphic I have to scroll over to get it to see the image and when I select it nothing appears the space stays blank

Could it be that you just need to scroll left? Otherwise I would suggest to delete it and upload it again. Btw, tell me if you'll resolve this problem. :)
-
so i tried going left and then just seeing if he would appear regardless of the blank graphics box and i got this really bizarre reaction XD where he doesn't appear at all until you continously move in certain directions and then it flashes his entire sprite sheet up for a second then disappears. I don't know much but I think that if maybe there was a way to cut the blue checkered space off that appears with him maybe that would fix it? :)

What I meant bu scrolling down was in the window you pick your character, like this -
I think it's because it doesn't come up with the marker that comes up in yours let me try it without the $ :)

That worked perfectly now thank you! only problem is it appears that the other sprites im working with are arranged slightly differently so I will have to arrange the sprites that way when I create others :) but thank you again! http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh636/redhawk2099/Screenshot19_zpsd94ae145.png
