How to create an in game map?

Thanks to everyone who reply's to this I was wondering how to make an in game map that the player can open up in the menu. How do I make this into an item that allows the player to leave the current map they are in and view different region maps as well as a whole world map. Thanks again, this is my first post

You'll need a script. I saw one that could be used for this purpose, http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/topic/35064-image-world-map-system/
