How to add special effects to opening cutscene

  1. Ok. I am working on my opening cutscene, and I'm at a loss, because I have an epic battle between humans and demons,

    but when the leader of the demons shouts that all humans will die, I want the earth to shake and the ground to open up and lava pits to appear. Is this even possible? I hope so. It would make my opening cutscene so epic.
  2. Yes it is possible. You can make the ground shake by using the event command shake screen... as for the splitting ground you would need a resource for that. My guess would be it could work as a sprite of the ground ripping apart.
  3. Making the screen shake is easy. There's a Shake Screen command.


    The other you could probably do with pictures, using 'debris' or 'smoke' animations to hide the fact that you're fading one out and another back in. Although, I think by default pictures display ABOVE the player. So instead, you could use Tsukihime's Tile Swap script (search for it), or maybe do a teleport to another map without fading.
