How do I create this kind of effect?

  1. I'm trying to create a visual effect where when an attack in a battle occurs, or when a character is speaking an animation will appear but overlaying the map/battle.

Basically, I want to greenscreen clips over specific scenes so that I save time on cropping each and every frame in the animation creator and just play a video file that has greenscreen or black and white tiles that MV will make transparent. Thank you for all the help people
  2. I don't know wether it's possible to play a video mid-battle. At least, one that overlaps.
But a possible solution might be to create that animation in the animation tab, and then have that animation shown whenever you need to.

See the problem is that the animation I'm trying to play is quite lengthy. Maybe a hundred frames I'd bet. I wouldn't even know how to go about something like that. Is there a plug-in that would allow you to import video files into the animation creator and have all the frames laid out?
  4. A common event in an action sequence should be able to call a movie without anything being interrupted. You won't be able to run it on one specific target though.

So you're saying I can run a movie sequence in battle without it interruppting the battle, but I can't green screen it over? Do you happen to know any good plugins that would make the animation process less repetitive so I dont have to copy paste a thousand times?
  6. If you're alright with working with the sheets there is the pattern tween feature built into the animation editor in the database. I'd LOVE if there were some sort of masking feature plugin out there though. Being able to run animations masked by the enemy bitmap is a cool effect.

Thank you for the help! I agree!
