How do I add side-scrolling text?

I'm an RMXP user and I've seen that in all RPG Maker Vx/Vx Ace/MV games have default side-scrolling text, which I want to accomplish in my maker. Is there a simple script I can copy and insert to do this? Or is it not even possible in the first place? (Assuming it is) It'd be very helpful if there is a straight forward way to do this, so thanks. The default text for RMXP just fades out into the next which is kinda boring since most RPGs have side scrolling text and it makes the entire game just a tad more interesting. Thanks again anyway!
