  1. I've only so put the mechanics together and haven't really gotten to mapping anything yet. Probably not making the deadline. Ohh well.
  2. The only thing left I have ta make is tha ending stuff so I'll make it if I work nonstop these last days but just barely hahahh.

Mechanics is its own category, so you can try focusing on that with just enough mapping/story to get by. Hope you make it in time. Best of luck!

Awesome to hear! Best of luck to you; can't wait to see your entry. :)
  4. Mine focused more on characters and story. I hope making a more vn like game is OK cuzz that's what I did. I'm more visual novel guy than rpg guy. An' it's OK if we plan ta extend our games after gamejam? ? Like it plays as a full game in itself but it feels like an abridged version cuzz I had ta cut some stuff ta meet deadline. I'd like ta make an extended version with all custom gfx an actual animations an voice acting an sim elements all that.

This is my first game I ever tried ta make before. .. . so I know I'm outclassed by everyone here but I hope my game's liked anyway. I hear everyone first game's allways horrible. So I'm a lil anxious hahahh

You're totally OK so long as it is made in RPG Maker VX, VX/Ace, or MV.

As for what you do with the game after the Game Jam? You can do whatever you want. It's your game! :D

    Best of luck!

I'm in the same boat. Need to make my ending cutscene, deployment, play test the deployment and upload.

This will be my first completed RPG Maker game so don't be too sure. Plus, Storyline isn't the category that I'm gunning for so you should be good there.
  7. Not sure i'll be able to enter this one, finishing up my own Steam game (in my sig) for release. I'll give it a shot, but not sure.

You make amazing games, @SimProse. If you miss the Game Jam for one of your commercial releases, that's more than OK with us. :)
  9. Whew! Submitted (almost in triplicate)!

And yes, that did answer my earlier question! [Thank you Frogboy for the clarification!]. I was in an internet free zone till now; my apologies for not confirming that earlier.

@umbralshadows & @Frogboy I'm in that same boat with you! First completed game. I've tested it and had a family member try it as well, but here's hoping Studio Blue doesn't find a game breaker I overlooked with my 'rushed' production schedule :troll:. I am looking forward to how all our projects 'compete' in the different categories, but I'm mostly excited to have a 'complete project' under my belt. The competition part is just gravy. Particularly nice gravy, thanks to Studio Blue.

After I recover from the deployment anxiety, I may do something similar to your idea umbralshadows. I had to cut back on the 'vision' I had for the game. Features were dropped and I find the amount of polish I did to be dreadful, but I'm a perfectionist, so here's hoping my game isn't a complete bomb! Or I might set myself a month challenge to complete game two. Time to do some exercise to burn off this anxious energy! Good luck everyone on the final polish and submission process!
  10. This is not just my first completed game. Its the first time I ever touch rpg maker hahahh. :kaoswt2: or any game making thing. But good luck everyone yo. I'm still polishing an I will until tha last minute.

    1. If your cell provider doesn't disable mobile hotspot and your data limit isn't too low, you could plug your phone into your computer, transfer the game over to your phone and then upload it from there.

    2. Are there any public facilities or private businesses that have free or low cost Internet access that can be utilized? Maybe a local library or a McDonald's or something of that nature?

    3. Any friends or family have a more reliable Internet connection that you can use?
    wi
whil try :D my phone off when you got send me that info;(
  12. Just dropping a line: I did go ahead and get something done and will be entering. I've only worked on it for a little over 2 days, so it may not do spectacular, but hey, it'll be fun anyway. :)
  13. Entry submitted. Whew! Here's hoping that there's no horrible bugs or crashes that I missed. Good luck everyone. Can't wait to see your entries.
  14. Mine's in. Theres still stuff I wanted ta fix an do but I'll just hafta wait til after gamejam ta do it all. :kaoslp:I need sleep after all that. I went so many days no sleep tryna learn rpg maker hahahh.
  15. Darn! Was hoping to be the last submission. Lol!

So when should we expect to see the play-through videos to start showing up?

Unless something happens to stop us, we'll start tomorrow. Have a nice number of submissions!
  17. Here are the list of games that will be in the Game Jam:

Play Videos of the games will be shown here, as well as Facebook and Twitter.
  18. Hello everyone! In this Game Jam entry, we look at the solid and well-crafted game of Tonitrus 34N. There isn't much to say other than we really enjoyed this one: The story is compelling, the characters are unique, and the mechanics are amazing. We were pulled right into the game from the onset and were held on until the very end.

The only issue we could find is the energy recovery. In the final battle, energy was very hard to come by (there was no way we'd survive if we took a round to heal energy with items). But this was such a minor issue. It clocks in a little long for what we expected for a game jam entry. Overall, this is the kind of game jam project that needs to be made into a full game.

    Good job, @EGStryker!!

  19. Hello everyone! In this RPG Maker Game Jam entry, we look into the world of Arcane Animarum. A short but sweet story about a lost civilization and its cursed existence, this game shows that unity overcomes fear and adversity at all times. The mapping is solid, the music is beautiful, and the characters have their own voices.

There are balancing issues in this game, however, and the story-driven concept of magic holds very little use overall. It has a Rune Crafting system, but it hardly matters. The boss battle was cumbersome. But mechanics aside, this game does accomplish what it sets out to do.

Overall, a solid entry. Good job, @Skyforger!

  20. Hey everyone! In this RPG Maker Game Jam entry we take a look at the hilariously tongue-in-cheek world of Fall of Eden. This short but funny game had us laughing from start to finish at its jokes, over-the-top humor, and plain ridiculousness. It also contains one of the best bugs we've ever seen in any RPG Maker game.

It's hard to critique a game that's not meant to take itself seriously; however, if there is one thing we need to mention, it's Glenda's exploit. That makes the game impossible to lose. Was it an intentional bug (aka a feature), or was it a mistake? Either way, it does break the immersion of the game.

Having said that, we had a good time with it and laughed about it even after stopping.

    Good job, @Titris Thrawns!
