  1. (Feel free to answer either one or both of these questions).

    What is ~

    1. The most romantic scene in your current game project, and what makes it so?
    2. The saddest scene in your current game project, and what makes it so?
  2. Lol, ok.

    Zendir 3:

    - Most romantic is probably the ending o_o

I can't say why due to obvious spoilers.

    - The saddest scene? Certainly the segment in the middle I think.

Zendir 3 isn't really a 'sad' game though.
  3. Currently, there's no romantic scene in mine yet, simply because I haven't gotten far enough to event it, but right now, the saddest part of the game is Jenne's opening when she's being beaten with wine bottles from her father.

    Sad , yo.
  4. In my project, there should be many romantic scenes, as there are many characters involved. However, currently there is no romantic scene this far (but the contributors and testers are fond of making various scenes, including romantic ones. Perhaps I'll add some of the scenes into my project later...)

And as the time goes on, there are many sad scenes, like the revisiting the ruins of the past, encountering a person who bonds with the main characters, and ultimately, the ending is supposed to be sad. Well, I can't tell which one is the saddest, tho, but for me, the disappearance of the little girl's shade is quite tearjerking for almost no reason  :|
  5. For the first, I'm not sure which scene will be the "romantic one" as the love interest for the story is a rather...harsh...person, but the saddest would definitely be near the end, where our hero discovers that he, himself, is the monster.
  6. There's a major romance story aspect that is initially unlocked by doing a side quest(which unlocks a chain of side quests), that nets you a secret char. However providing you have said char unlocks, there's many romance aspects between her, and one of the three main char, which develops through the game, and there will be many romance aspects.

However with that said, such technically Isn't in the actual game yet, as there's a hell of a lot more systems, and maps to make, before those things are added to the game. Most likely, that will be the very next thing I work on, after the Ancient Cave is fully implemented(I have the procedure for the Ancient Cave all worked out, but none of the maps or eventing has been done yet. I'll probally start working on creating/implementing the Ancient Cave when like 50% of the game is done, so even that's a long while off).
  7. Is this for some kind of research? :p

In my current project (Atonement), there aren't any obvious romantic scenes, but there are tonnes of sad scenes (or at least I intend for them to be).

In regard to romance, I guess it just didn't fit anywhere in the story. There are some light romantic touches here and there between the already established couples, but no romantic subplot between the main protagonists (who knows though, maybe I will end up adding something later...)

As for the sad scenes, there are so many, I don't know which one would be the saddest. It would depend on the player and what they relate to the most. Most of the sad scenes are backstories and past events remembered by characters and shown to the audience as a flashback. Let's just say there are things such as loss of loved ones (a lot of that in fact), betrayal, pain and torment, and many themes that just about anyone should be able to relate to.
  8. I haven't really been trying to set up any specific emotional scenes, really just sort of letting the story go where it will, especially with the romance. I have an idea of who gets together with whom, but I think I'm going to keep it off-screen and let the player draw their own conclusions from what is said.

The saddest scene? There's one scene planned to take place in the Galimond slums, where healthcare is nearly nonexistant.
  9. Romantic. I don't know. I don't really do romantic.

But sad, that's easy. The end, where the main character's love interest has to cast off her mortal existence to help save the world.
  10. I don't really have any romantic moments in my game.

Saddest have to be where the main character has to put down his pet dragon after it has been blinded by soldiers and gone mad.
  11. The saddest scene in your current game project, and what makes it so?

    • Throughout the story, the protagonist builds a pretty close relationship to an npc who he would have never thought he would become friends with, but late in the game, said npc ends up dying while trying to protect the protagonist, which then causes the protagonist to become resentful and bitter of his whole mission.
    • There is another npc who you can follow around throughout the game who gives you tidbits of information about her past, but only after beating her in duels. You can duel her a total of 5 times in different cities/towns, and each time she gives a bit more information about her life and her old partner who had passed away. The fourth time you meet up with her, you see a cut-scene which reveals exactly how her partner had died, which hits home with the main character, because he feels like he is in a very similar situation as she was. (This is hard to explain without giving away too many spoilers!)
  12. I very much like the idea of building up characters for the player, then tearing them out of the picture with a sharp "snap''! Fernyfer. I prefer to use that tension, that emotional break of losing a major player in the story to fuel the desire to finish the quest though. I can see how yours would be effective as well, if that quest the player(hero) is on results in the loss of a good friend.

Just don't let it get all Max Payne 3, aha.
  13. Most romantic scene?  Hard to pick just one.  There's four weddings and countless romantic scenes, plenty of dialogue, but probably my main character's eventual proprosal.  "You are like the wind.  Always at my side.  You are my heart's thunder, the tempest that makes me happy, calm, angry and sad.  You always have been, and always will be, the woman I love."

Sadness is the ending.  I can't explain why without blowing it all away.
  14. im not going to spoil things, but i am not shy about killing off main characters =)
  15. Most romantic scene?  I haven't written it yet.

Saddest scene?  When the main character finds out precisely WHY every single elf already knows their names without being introduced.  His love interest is an elf named Rik, and what he finds out throws a great deal into question.

The reason?  Elves are telepathic.     But, the elf who tells the main character this is strongly opposed to elf-human relationships.  So, he is speaking the complete truth, but heavily shading it through word choices, making it seem to be something it's not.  And, in doing so, he throws their entire relationship into question, because his statements seem to flat out contradict some things she said.
  16. The most romantic scene, I suppose, is when you walk in on an almost naked dude in the shower and he screams like a little.... female dog.  Well, if you're into that stuff.

The saddest moment is when.... someone..... dies.  Can't give away too much. Sorry.
  17. Don't have a lot of romantic scenes at all, at least not yet. Some banter here and there, but that's it.

Saddest scene/part is when your medic, the overall most caring and optimistic character in the game, kills himself because he couldn't handle the sheer amount of killing needed to survive. It makes more sense in context though I think.
  18. Right now I'm only in chapter 1, so there isn't too much romance yet. So far in the game though there is a pretty obvious flirt about 5 min into the game, and there is constant banter between a guy and a girl as the guy keeps trying to win the girl over, but she is not interested in him. That's as far as mine has gotten, but I intend to have more open up in chapter 3 (when I get that far).

Now if you had asked me most humorous moment...now I got *plenty* of those, as one of my characters is really silly at times.

  20. This is tough because nobody wants to give away their sad plot twists. I'll try and strike the proper balance between too vague and too divulgent.

Romantic: There isn't much opportunity for actual romance, but there are some heartfelt moments within the party as they bond through adversity and all the crap that they eventually go through together. In a sense, this ties in with the sad moments in the game:

Sad: There are a few things that stick out amid the general angst of the party's journey. One of the parts I'm most looking forward to putting together (especially the dialogue) is the main character's attempted suicide and proceeding recovery after especially traumatizing events/news. The recovery is shown as a montage of short scenes immediately after the attempt, as not to put the player through the rest of the game with the "OH I AM SO TORTURED AND MY LIFE IS MEANINGLESS" main character cliche that drives you nuts after a while. "Romantic" probably isn't the right word, but some of the best bonding and growth will probably be in this situation as well.

If I can end up pulling it off, then probably the saddest scenario will be when the antagonist's background is revealed to the player. There will be a chunk of the game down the road where you are trying to catch up with and confront the antagonist, with three or four areas where you almost get to him or have a close call with him. Each of these areas has an ominous, intangible effect on the party, thrusting them into a cutscene of the antagonist's past, piecing together his story, with some gaps filled in when the confrontation finally happens. I want to justify his motives and actions as much as possible to make him a believable villain, so orchestrating the perfect storm of events will be fun.
