Umm... hi.
I'm kinda new to this forum thing and rpg maker.
But getting to the point I'd wish that someone tells me how to create your own sprite of characters and map.

This one's for MV, but can also work for VXAce as it just explains how to start.

When you're talking about map, I suppose you mean tiles?
If you click on VXAce and scroll down on this page, you'll see a tutorial series called "Creating tiles".
