  1. So... I have this things with making games since I was umm... that young coz I can't remember.

    Anyways, I have stumbled upon RMVX ACE on the weekend over on Steam and then out of nowhere it showed up on Humble Bundle for 12$ so I said why not.

    Anyways, I have been messing around with it quiet a bit - I know how to create mini quests, maps, transfer locations, IDs for encounters... basically all the basic stuff.

    I am stuck though!

    I know I know I just got here and already wanna get information about stuff but what can I say?!?! It is the calling of making games XD

    Anyways, the issue is that I want to make this guy telling you that there is a pest in the house and then the pest shows up and you killing it. The guy is all upset saying whats wrong with you that was my pet rat I was talking about that cockroach over there in the corner.

    Now I made the guy talking to you explaining about the pest. Then created an event for the rat and basically used a switch on the guy that when the rat dies, he is telling you wtf.

    That part is working fine!

    The part I am unable to create is how do I make the rat event to show up after you talk to the guy so basically the rat is not there at first but shows up after the guy talking about pests.

    Anyways! Yeah that is me just got RMVX ACE and already got myself into a challenge that because of my lack of experience I have no clue how to figure it out.

    This is fun, and I have been looking around on the forum and I liked it and was able to learn a lot and hopefully it will continue this way :)

  2. I'm fairly new here too and just want to say welcome and that I like your amusing take on the mandatory 'kill the rats' quest. But I would suggest posting your help request in the support forum to get more responses... They are understandably quite keen for people to use the forums appropriately, and this is the place just to tell the RPG Maker world something about yourself and your plans.

    Anyway, this is the blind leading the blind, as I've yet to do setting up 'quests' like that... I think it would involve setting up a variable that changes when you speak to the guy, then setting up the rat event to check the status of the variable before doing anything else - the event would only progress if it is set to be 'quest activated'. Something like that, maybe...

    I'm going to have a go at this in my next Maker session... I've spent too long making pretty maps and fiddling about with custom scripts instead of working out the basics of RPG adventuring! And seeing as my first project will be heavily story and quest based, it's about time I did this!
