  1. Can anyone tell their experience with funding their games through Kickstarter or some other similar sites? Thanks in advance. :)
I'm a poor college student haha.
  2. Yes. *points to signature*
  3. ^Epic success
  4. Nobody else needs to comment after seita. Enough said.

However, it's getting harder and harder. It seems that the Kickstarter/crowdfunding bubble has popped.

Your project seems to be doing well.
  6. It's doing ok; but it's mostly hardcore fans and backers of previous campaigns I've done. Drawing in new backers is the difficult part - you just don't get the 'passing traffic' that you used to get. In short, Kickstarter is quieter in general and more projects are failing to meet their mark. I'm running a relaunched campaign, don't forget.
  7. Zoltor, you assume too much. Let's go into this a little, shall we?

I produce professional boxed copies of all my games.

I have to pay a composer, concept/in-game character artist and sprite artist for their time. Such things do NOT come cheap.

Look, a commercial RM game can EASILY cost you $10k to produce. I know that veterans like Shaz will back me up here (in fact, I think I might even be quoting Shaz from another KS thread). Kickstarter is A. a way to test the water and gauge community response and B. a way to produce something of higher caliber when you don't personally have the resources available to do so.

Back when I made that post I wasn't nowhere as aware of your campaign's situation as now.

Anyway, 87,43% of our backers did came so far via discovery system (71.72% via advanced discovery.) I think it is about presentation and how much you ask for.

But what probably counts a lot more is the game's setting and other various details (characters, what series it is, who is making it, etc.)
  9. Reading the above posts reminds me of star citizen. What's the hell up with that game?
  10. Being a project lead is easily the most demanding position being in a team. Especially if the team is big.

You need to wait art, music and other things that you have commissioned. You need to cooperate with team mates you have to make the end result to be something worth to sell.

Speaking of team mates. They might be in your team but that doesn't mean they are not getting paid for their work.

Then there is trust, how to spend the money.
  11. Alright. I'm only going to say this once.

IF YOU HAVE NOT PUT A PROJECT ON KICKSTARTER OR GOFUNDME, STAY OUT OF THIS THREAD!!!

The OP is after EXPERIENCE, not OPINIONS.

I have removed all the posts in this thread that do not discuss people's experience on this platform, to clean things up a bit.
  12. I've made very positive experiences with crowdfunding, made over 40k through crowdfunding and making now around 6k per month.
It's a really good choice if you have an unique idea.
  13. 6k per month? What's your secret 0.o ?
  14. 40k and 6k from what game(s)?
