  1. Hi,

For my game I thought it would be really cool if my main character Android could have two or three people join him on his quest. Now I'm sure Guilds is available in RPG Maker Vx Ace but I'm not exactly sure how I would put that in to my game. So if anyone knows how to, I'd be grateful if they could give me a hand :)

So if anyone knows how to create Guilds, please could you help me?

    Kind regards,

    Matthew.
  2. Do you mean add more actor to the party?

There always event command called Change Actor, you can add more actor in the party or remove an actor from the party.
  3. Yes that's what I meant.

But how would I add another person to the party in the middle of my story? Is that possible?

Can you elaborate what you mean by that? You can call "Change Actor" from any event during your story.
  5. Hmm.. You know, at your professor event(or any new event).
You can add a command Change Actor, then choose your actor that you want to add in the party.

  6. Characters can be added at any stage of the game, using the command in the Event Command Menu 'Change Party Member'.  You will find it on the first tab of the menu.

I've seen a number of queries from you, and I think you would find the tutorials here http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/support/products/tutorials very helpful.  If you work through them, and make the game that the tutorials cover, you will learn about making maps, adding characters, making skills, equipment and all sorts of basic things like that.  It will take a few hours to go through all the parts of the tutorial, but you will learn so much that you will quickly save that time, and more, when making your own game, as well as getting a good overview of what the possibilities are.
  7. Ah thanks ksjp17!

I'll read through the tutorials then, I'll probably do that tomorrow though, I never read when I'm feeling tired as that's usually when I start to make mistakes! The tutorials sound like a good place to start, I'll give it a go tomorrow morning most likely. Also thank you for the link.

I'd also like to thank everyone else who helped me out!!

A huge thank you to everybody :)
  8. Thank you whitesphere,

The links are greatly appreciated :) its nice to know that I am a part of a great and helpful community.

Currently I am also working on other projects, though my game, well the tutorials then my game are coming first though!

    Thanks again.
  9. Bloody hell, I forgot that Change Party Member is what you needed, I guess I need that basic tutorial to(hahaha....). Ah this must be the effect of tired, already 3 A.M, and I guess I need to get some sleep now. Sorry for my wrong post Miffy.
  10. Miffy I know its not what you meant but I did see a script for Guilds the other day

I agree with what everyone else said, but like with all things I would insert a text box saying. "so and so joined the group"  That way the player gets a formal announcement that there is someone new on the team.
  11. When I think of a Guild, I think of a lot more than just "Party member added."  What I see in my mind is like this:

    - Certain party members gain new Classes.  If you join, say, the Wizard's Guild, you can become a Wizard and learn Magic for example.

    - New obligations.  Maybe Guild members need to pay an initiation fee (1000 G please!)?  Maybe Guild members have specific Codes of Conduct which must be followed (You will be barred from the Wizard's Guild if you use magic in town, except in Guild halls)  Maybe Guild Masters assign new Quests or assignments (Hunt down that rogue Wizard!)

    - Politics --- lots of Wizards scheme to be at the top, using the party as their cat's paws.  Can the party see through the games?

Basically I see a Guild not as a "party member dispenser" as much as a pivotal force in a game world.

I think historically, Guilds wielded immense power, controlling aspects of life which might touch upon their area of influence.  A Blacksmith's Guild, for example, had the power to determine who could work in the field, period.  It's reasonable to assume my example of a Wizard's Guild would have a LOT of power over everyday life, if magic were plentiful.

My point is Guilds can be very helpful to your game's plot.  They can provide ample justification for your quests and plenty of plot fodder.

They can dispense party members ("Dinkel here will be your Apprentice"), but as you see I think they do a hell of a lot more than just that.
  12. Ha, ha. No problem, we all make mistakes :)

Work through the many excellent basic tutorials for RPG Maker.  Shaz has some excellent ones as well.  These will cover the basics for RPG Maker.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, but any tutorials I recall posting are not really beginner-level - they require a basic understanding of eventing and event commands, and are for specific tasks.

Unless my memory is failing me ... ;)
