  1. What are some good free MMORPGS? And Steam doesn't let me play anything rated 18+ I want a story in it, as well as side-quests. I would prefer the style that you move around with in Neverwinter the (3d?) thing. Any MMOS are appreciated. :)
  2. I liked PWI (perfect world international) but it can get quite cash orientated at high levels. Mind you, that was a while ago... maybe things have changed.. :p

Here is some footage of pvp...
  3. Neverwinter is a real good one.

Aura Kingdom is alright too. Plus, everything in the cash shop, you can get without paying a dime.

Hm...It says Starter Pack, does it mean I can only play for a certain amount of time? Such as WOW you can only play up to level 20 with the starter pack...How many features do I get I can't find things about it... :(

I've played Neverwinter but my computer doesn't like it, it always breaks even when I try and fix it. And I've played Aura Kingdom not really fun...
  5. I only played a part of it, but TERA is a interesting one.
  6. If you're looking for free as in completely free, there aren't any that I can think of.

If you're looking at 'free' as in subscription-free, I can point you at Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. ArenaNet did a great job in both titles, building an immersive world, and populating it with great stories and personalities.
  7. Dunno if you're into private servers, but if you ever want to play WoW, look up MoltenWoW..it's basically the same as real WoW(but several things are buggy), just that it's completely free(and the community's massive in scale for private servers). As for the Neverwinter style combat...I'd say Tera, Aura Kingdom(not as much), or Dragon Nest. There're "quite" a good deal of free mmos, but completely free ones, the only I can think of where you never have to pay a dime unless you want to(and even if you do, it's not for like exp pots, or something, it's more cosmetics only) is Path of Exile. It's essentially Diablo, so if you're into that, you'll feel right at home. :)

And, of course Minecraft too. :v

PWI has no level cap like that for free players, or at least it didn't when I played.

My personal favorite is called "Mabinogi"

Mabinogi has a cell shaded, rather cartoony, look to it, but gameplay is very fun and it has a good story, though most players skip the cutscenes that show it. I'm on "Mari" server and my character's name is the same as on here, capitalized first letter though. "Cadh20000". If you decide to give it a try look me up!

Bit of advice, do NOT throw out the "Traveler's Guide" from your inventory. It serves 2 purposes; telling a new player how to play, and being used as materials for a Handicraft skill item used in a collection quest and there is no way to get a new one once it is gone except to get a new player to give you their copy. Also, don't try Commerce solo until you have your level high enough or you are DEAD.

Hundreds of skills, hundreds of weapons, 2 entire continents, 1 island city, 2 alternate worlds, dozens of dungeons. A "Talent" gives your character bonuses when learning or training skills related to it, but any character can learn any skill in the game as long as you meet the prerequisites(high enough level, finding the right NPC, completing the right quests, buying the right equipment, having the right "Title" equipped when talking to the right NPC, convincing the NPC to like you enough, etc...) You are considered a "beginner" and get all the "Beginner bonuses" until you reach cumulative level 1,000.
  9. To tell the truth, there are very, very few truly-"Free" F2P games out there. Most find some way of suckering you into tipping your wallet into their bank accounts. There are a few that actually follow the philosophy, but not many :(

I used to frequent this game called Rusty Hearts for a while, until I came back after a hiatus only to find that the game was stuck in permanent limbo =_=

If you're the action-y type, and don't mind a lot of platforming, Elsword Online is pretty fun, although it's hard to get into the economy when even decent equipment can cost you millions, and the free shops only have three spaces... Though last time I looked they changed things around with the skill system, and haven't been able to play since. However, be aware that you likely will be dropping money if you want to get far -- a second four-slot skill bar is still locked behind a 9$ pay-wall last I checked, and you will need it if you want to survive higher levels :<

Another one I've gotten into is Path of Exile, which is actually a Western MMO, for once o: It's your basic Diablo look-a-like, but different in that leveling up gives you access to new passive skills, and your active skills are placed on your equipment via gems (ala Matera from FF7). However, how you build your character is up to you. Want a spell-slinging Ranger? Or perhaps a Witch with a penchant for cursing enemies before beating them senseless? You can do it, and if you know how, it can be a viable class in its own right.

Also, the game has quite a bit of challenge, without being overwhelmingly "hardcore" (ie- making the game impossible to win except by trial-and-error). It's really fun, even solo :3 Dungeons are also single-instance affairs, so no one can waltz in and steal your hard-fought goodies.

Perhaps best of all, there's no "pay to win" mindset in the game; the best items are found within the game, and stuff in the cash shop are all for looks. No random lotto or gachapon games, no overpowered crap hidden behind a pay-wall, no blocked content; everything you'll ever need to play is in the game itself!

Last one here (for now): if you're big on FPS multiplayer but need one with a sense of humor, Loadout is your game. Every weapon is customizable. Every. Single. One. A pulse rifle that shoots rockets? Done. Rocket launcher that shoots lasers? Easily! Shotty that lays mines everywhere? Piece of cake. It almost has a Borderlands feel to it, without the equipment farming and "we want your money, buy our DLC or else" feel. As well as public and private matches, there's the usual array of deathmatch/CTF/king of the hill/and so on. They're even adding a campaign mode with cooperative play soon ^_^

The only downside I can think of is that, if you aren't particularly good at shooters, it can take a while to get the better weapons. Also, the game is gloriously bloody, so if that's a problem... well, ehh. XD Not sure about the cash shop, but I haven't really heard negative stuff about it.
  10. Dragon's Nest

-There's an actual combat system that's fun.

-A decent story, with developed NPCs that have dialog that does not make you cringe.

-There'seven a friendship system to go with each NPC. Not to mention each NPC has dozens of sidequests apiece.

I guess it feels more like a single player game with a bunch of people you can play with, but that's how must MMORPGs should be in my opinion. The only downside I can think of is gender locked classes.
  11. DC Universe Online is my personal favourite but I tried none of the aforementionned ones and actually gave up mmorpgs (too much time-consuming). It's actually really free to play as long as you don't want cosmetic changes for your character. Drop-rate is more than decent and you can definetely have fun on f2p version. Would recommend to kick-in the 5 bucks required to go premium though.

Also you can have pretty unique design for your characters, I rarely saw any character (except the unavoidable hordes of "BatMan9342890") looking like the same as another in all the months I played it.
You don't really need to item shop and if you decide to take on a monthly-fee account, you get absolutely EVERYTHING unlocked, uncluding latest dlcs , expansions etc you won't pay one more buck for it. You can also choose not to go monthly and buy these one by one (5$ each if I remember well) according to your progress in teh storyline.

  12. If you don't mind "technology mixed with magic" sort of universes, Rising Force Online has gone F2P last year. I do not play it personnally but I know it allows to play some elves/magicians or some cyborgs-transhumans/technicists and a third faction between these twos which pilot mechas. Cherry on the cake, it is also available on Android.
  13. I don't know to much about MMORPG, but how about Digimon Masters? I played it for a while, and it was good(at least for me)
  14. I believe ArcheAge just came out today, perhaps you could give that a try?
  15. ArcheAge good be a good one to try.
  16. Heh. I remember this question being asked 10+ years ago, and the standard answer back then was Runescape. I played that game religiously (on a 56k modem) until I got into WoW years later.

That's not a recommendation, by the way... it's still going (and has been for over 13 years), but I have no idea what state it's in. It was fun when I was 12 and didn't know any better, but it's probably quite dated by today's standards.
  17. Dark Swords is a pretty good one.  2 servers to choose from, it is basically a 2d world of warcraft, at least as far as building characters.  Rogues, tanks, assassins, healer/buffer, nukes.
