So, I'm not a fan of just random battle encounters.
I kinda like how in the new Pokemon Let's Go games, you see the Pokemon in the overworld and if you bump into it or it bumps into you, it will trigger a battle with that Pokemon.
I'm trying to the do the same thing in RPG maker MV but their seems to be an issue/bug.
Okay, so I create a "Pokemon" event, set the image, set the type to custom ( 5 up, 5 down, repeat).
I set the options to walking/stepping - the priority to "same as characters" and the trigger to "touch event"
If you walk into the event, it will trigger the battle and if you stand in the way of the event's path, it will trigger the battle.
But if you walk past the event's set path, it will freeze on the spot when it gets close to the space you passed it.
it will then just freeze there until you take 2 more steps... what is this all about and can it be solved??
Anyone know how to get around this??

Dont know if i understand you, but here some advices.
Make the moviment you want custom in the route of the event not in the page.
In MV native and interactive tutorial has a part that teaches make this kind of event. You can see how the event is made there.
Use this plugin that aid you better with this type of encounter touching the events.
Good luck :) -
Do you have followers or just the player character? Followers don't trigger Event touch actions.

Just a single player.Do you have followers or just the player character? Followers don't trigger Event touch actions.

OMG What you said got me thinking... Even though I have 1 player, it's still set to 4 actors available in the settings . Changing it to 1 did the trick! Thanks for helping me come to that conclusion. -
That's the only way I could think of in order to replicate this behavior.OMG What you said got me thinking... Even though I have 1 player, it's still set to 4 actors available in the settings . Changing it to 1 did the trick! Thanks for helping me come to that conclusion.
Glad you nailed it! -
How did you change it to 1?Even though I have 1 player, it's still set to 4 actors available in the settings . Changing it to 1 did the trick!
The correct way to start with a party of 1 is to go to the System tab and remove the unwanted actors from the Starting Party list. What you have probably done was to go to the Actors tab and delete the actors. This still gives you a party of 4, but the followers won't have sprites.
If you "changed it to 1" by doing something with scripts, you'll find when you do add more party members, you'll only have one participate in battles and one shown on the map, even if you have followers on.
Also, if you don't want followers displayed on the map, you can go to the System tab in the database and turn them off. -

Settings, Actor, change maximum to 1 and the problem was solved (I didn't need any scripts to do this). -
No. That's not how you change it. You need to go to the System tab and set your starting party there.
What you've done is limit your game to 1 actor. You'll find you have more troubles when you want to add a new party member.
Add back in the rest of the actors and give them all names. Then go to the system tab and you'll see you still have a party of 4. Delete the 3 you don't want, then you can go back to Actors and clear the unwanted slots. -
I already did that before creating this post and as you can see from the video above, it does not work unless you limit it to 1 actor. If you delete the 3 you don’t want, the game still puts an invisable wall of 3 following you for some reason. Luckerly, I only want 1 party member in one I’m doing but I do wonder how thos would be solved if you wanted multiple.No. That's not how you change it. NO, you're wrong and somehow misunderstood what Shaz wrote. If you delete the 3 you don’t want, the game still puts an invisable wall of 3 following you for some reason.
Those three "invisible followers" are ALWAYS caused by having four actors in the "starting party setting", it has nothing to do with the number of actors in the actor tab.
You need to remove the three other actors from the starting party to solve that - and then start a new game because all saved games of course contain the old party.
The following picture shows where those three other actors are - deleting them in the actor tab only destroys their data and makes those lines into invisible (unnamed) starting party actors, but does not remove them from the starting party.

I know, that’s how I solved the issue the other day. it’s fine now.NO, you're wrong and somehow misunderstood what Shaz wrote.
