Games you hate, yet everyone else cherishes.

  1. The title says it all, what's that game, or game series that everyone seems to treat like it was crafted by the very hands of god; yet, you find it to be overrated trash (or just okay, but overrated). That's right, this thread will have opinions bashing something you may like/love so just accept that and keep in mind that "they don't know what they're talking about!"

As for me, the series that I've never liked is Sonic the Hedgehog. It's a series that focuses on speed, yet whenever you go through the level fast, you constantly die and the only way to make it through a level is to be wary of your surroundings and make sure to keep rings.

I have a few others, but I want to hear what series give you similar feelings.
  2. The Legend of Dragoon. It just felt clunky and not well written.
  3. Skyrim... I just really hate the flow and the battle system... yeah I know the battle system is fundamentally the same like the previous games, but I hate it on skyrim... XD
  4. Halo - The Halo series is full of overpromising and underdelivering in my opinion.  There isn't really anything revolutionary about the series.

World of Warcraft / Guild Wars 2 - Despite the differences, I love the lore behind both games but hate the amount of grind you need to get the 'best' gear.  I've played both for about a year then quit without any remorse.  Guild Wars 2 can also follow Halo with the overpromise / underdeliver aspect as they touted the game as they don't want people to grind yet most new stuff they introduce is grind related.
  5. I will second Legend of Dragoon. When it came out it was kind of riding the coat-tails of FF7 and 8's massive success and it kind of trumpeted itself as being in their league. In my estimation is most certainly was nowhere near their leagues. If I played LoD without the bias I had with FF 7 and 8 (games I love til this day), I might have enjoyed it more.

I have a profound hatred of pretty much anything pokemon, in spite of how much many people love it. But everyone hates different things; that's what makes the world go 'round :)

Yep. Have to keep telling myself this. Its the only way I can not die of an aneurysm every time someone mentions liking TWEWY.
  7. The Elders Scrolls: Oblivion - Skyrim

    Fallout 3

    The Walking Dead

    Gone Home

    Final Fantasy VII

    Mass Effect series

DOTA2/League of Legends... actually I hate every MOBA game out there.

    The World Ends With You

My list of hated games is much longer than this, but not a lot of them are "cherished" nor considered all that great either.
  8. The Final Fantasy series.
  9. Persona 4, The Last of Us Chrono Cross... thats all  I can think of right now.
  10. Halo,

    the tales of ~ series,

Almost every sports and racing game ever made,

    Counter Strike,

    Half Life,

    The warcraft series,

    Diablo series,

The ones that stand out the most to me at the top of my head.
  11. Zelda.
  12. Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore.
  13. World of Warcraft

    Call of Duty (series)

    Pokemon (series)

    The Sims (series)

    Every racing game

    Every sport game
  14. I think that if its a game completely out of the genre you normally play, it might not be a good fit. I mean, I hate every MMO, but that isn't very interesting because they are MMOs and I hate them.

I like single player RPGs, so Legend of Dragoon and TWEWY being games I hate are a bit more telling.
  15. The Legend of Dragoon is meant to be a parody of RPG tropes.
  16. Legend of Dragoon isn't that bad.

The storyline is clichè as hell, the game itself is simple, repetitive and with some serious issues, but all in all it's fun to play, and the characters (although heavily stereotyped) were decently good.
  17. Oblivion and Skyrim. I love being able to explore the huge world, and stealing everything that isn't nailed down, but

the battle system is immensely clunky and broken that I really can't get into it.

Also, pretty much every sports game ever (save for skating). I'd rather go out and do the real thing with a couple of buddies instead.
  18. Kingdom Hearts. Kind of.

Well, I tried out Dream drop distance, but it had far too many systems and features.

So much that it felt like a chore studying them.
  19. Eastern RPGs made after the SNES.  All of them.
  20. Oh, yeah, I hate the Disney aspect of kingdom hearts.

You could have the the exact same game with the same story, but with more interesting worlds and side-characters, if they had just dropped Disney, and made everything square-enix style instead.
