So recently I lost all my work due to hard drive problems. I do have a backup of my rpg maker game. However my backup doesn't have the game.rvproj file (the used for opening the project in rpg maker).
Can I just put that file from a clean project to the one in question? If not what else can I do?

you can try that, but depending on the status of the other files that might not be enough. Then you have to copy the other files from a new project and start to hope and pray.
Always backup your work on a different drive... -
What do you mean status? I haven't encrypted anything. Only the rvproj file is missing.

I tried this with one of my projects now; I made a new blank project, then copied its rvproj file to an existing project, and it did open the existing project just fine :) So go ahead; it should work, so long as all the other files and folders are there.

Thanks man. I appreciate the help. Feel free to close the topic.

You do mean rvproj2, not rvproj, don't you? rvproj is VX, rvproj2 is Ace.
