  1. @beliziam that... is a really big map and does not look like it would be fun to maneuver around as a player. Does the pathway need to be that long? Could you add some off-shoot or dead end paths to make it a little more interesting?
  2. @beliziam Oh I love that one. It made me imagine I was climbing up to visit Dracula's castle or something. Really nice work.

That place was castle???. oh well nice. i see :D
  4. @DarkHunter LOL I'm not 100% sure. In my imagination it was a castle! ;)
  5. 010_by_plueschkatze-dc7cazw.png

One of my favorite places in my game Ceress and Orea.

I really love this thread. It's awesome to see what everyone is working on! <3
  6. @beliziam I seriously question the number of trees that you've crammed onto every ledge. There simply isn't room for all of them to grow to full maturity like that. It also gives a certain 'cluttered' feel without adding a lot of visual interest. I'd vary their placement a lot more so that you don't just have x number ledges looking more or less identical. I'd also be careful about putting them so that their roots are too close to the edge.

I have a plugin that allows you to capture full maps ingame. It's called "OrangeMapshot"

The playable area will only be the upper third of the map. The rest is just used for one scene.

Thanks for the feedback. The inspiration for the mountain path actually comes from an old german rpg maker game about vampires. It's called "Vampires Dawn" I'm sure the german's here know the game :D

You're right way too many tree's. I hate empty spaces and went a bit overboard with the trees this time. I reworked it. This is my current version:

I will add more details later as i wanted to start on the actual scene i had planed for the map. I attached a video of the first version of the scene below. For the moment I'm satisfied with it but im sure i will tweak it later down the road.

Well thank you. :kaoluv: I'm not sure if I think the maps presented were THAT fantastic, although I think they turned out pretty decent as rough layouts! But really, it's just what can be done in a day (or two) in gimp by copying, pasting and slightly editing the MV RTP (it's all RTP as you can see). I imagine it would look way better with proper lightning and shadows which I was supposed to add (that's why there's no auto-shadows) but I didn't feel like investing more time into the maps since I'm not sure I'm going to ever use them. Because my current project takes place in a normal medieval fantasy setting... Arara... (now why didn't I make maps for that game instead?!) :kaoswt2:.

But the maps I did make were good practice and fun though. I don't have much experience with modern or sci-fi maps so I wanted to give it a try. And at some point, maybe I will try to make some kind of modern game considering these maps were pretty fun.

My source of inspiration came from this video from TheUnproPro. Maybe not the overall design, but more the general concept of a "haunted factory", which to me is a pretty cool idea for a modern dungen. His recent "tips-video" about how to make an elevator also made me want to make an elevator, but I never got that far. :kaoslp:

Regarding what else I've been hiding. Hm... well, when you ask it like that, a lot. I've never made a project thread on these forums and I think this was the first time I posted screenshots(?) here except maybe some cropped explanatory ones I've had to include while asking for help with stuff in the past. I'll consult with my bamboo-sticks if it's a good idea to put more of my projects and stuff out there for the public to see... hm... We'll see.:kaopride:

    @beliziam
Nice work with the FSM tiles. The overall layout of the map is pretty, a winding path leading to the temple. I'll assume the player is going to have a few encounters or maybe some dialouge or other things happening while moving up that mountain road? In that case, it seems like a pretty good area to me (game-play-wise!).:kaojoy:

A quick tip would be to maybe consider deleting some of the trees along the edge of the forest so it's doesn't look like a "wall of trees" around the temple. You can leave it the way it is I guess, it would depend on the look you're going for, but right now I think it gives the feeling of a man made forest (trees planted in rows) rather than a natural wild forest. Besides thinning out the edges of the forest you could also add a few smaller young trees of the same type (if you can make such edits since I don't think they're included in the FSM tiles?). It would look more natural I believe.
  9. Working on a sci-fi tileset!

  10. Spoiler
    tumblr_p6fopqxA3U1w0wc2uo1_500.png

Snow confirmed. Ill have to see if I can find a plugin that actually controls the color of the snow particles so I can tie them into the games 4 color palette better.
  11. @Plueschkatze I really love that image with the lighting and such, though something with the tree shadows make it look weird. Not sure why, could just be me though.

As for me, I'm working on a short game (an old idea of mine from my horror stories hayday) and I decided to use "Celianna's Ancient Dungeon set to do it in RPG Maker MV with Shaz's plugin) So far I am just playing around and wouldn't mind suggestions how to make good maps with this pack. lol. Right now, I feel like it's so-so rather than the awesome I know I am capable of. =^_^=

  12. @Thomas Smith If Celianna and Lunarea were tagged every time someone uses their tiles, they would be drowned in a blizzard of alerts. I get that you want to show appreciation, but it's probably kinder not to do that.

Sorry, I didn't think about that :rswt
  14. @Thomas Smith That's okay. A simple post in the tileset's thread is enough.

    Spoiler

and heres what ive changed so far:

    Spoiler

there is also an entire underwater section that you explore for almost an entire chapter.

    Spoiler

there arent too many underwater decorations i could find in the tilesets, but this is the best i could do.
  16. @gigaswardblade I get that you want to explain what's going on, but your post is more like a game development blog post than a post asking for feedback on specific maps. This is not the thread to be asking such questions as: should you add another dimension, or what other types of forest are there that I could do.

I would suggest that you edit your post so that it focuses on the map you want feedback on as a map, and the background stuff (like the goddess put in something to separate aremies), and general game development comments can be removed.

    i think i fixed it
  18. @gigaswardblade Much better - people can now focus on what's essential. Thanks for fixing.
