Finished the first 'major' and required boss, Vesuvius, in a small game I'm making called "Gehenna Rising".  Considering he's the end boss in what is called the "Ruins of Pompeii", I felt it only fitting.  Plus, since he's a required boss, had to amp up the dramatics.  This also featured the battle background I edit, and I think together it came out pretty nicely.  I still would like to color edit the main characters soon, as well as experiment with new classes, but let's save that for another night.

By the way, these battles I feature are on "casual" mode, which means they are missing extra mechanics that may increase difficulty.  It still feels a little difficult for casual mode, so I may scale some things down a bit.

  2. Day yadayada (yes, it's yadayada now, my quote to keep people quiet, if they aren't quiet yet, keep chanting)

On my journey to build a pixel movement (I was debating of whether doing pixel movement or large map + super fast speed)

I relearned bitwise operator, been a long time since the last time I had to use them, there's need to restudy. : p

I'm still working on my static pixel movement script, but the super fast + large map experiment is done. Here's the gif.

    @drago

I'm a sucker for branching stories. Keep it up. : p
  3. Today was looking like a slow day, and then suddenly BAM! Concept art for the game's title screen:

MASSIVE hugs and love to my friend Taka for drawing this :3

Oh and I did some stuff too:

    Spoiler
    Eric's been hitting the gym.

... Maybe a little too hard.

It's... it's supposed to be a gunshot. I'M NOT GOOD AT SPRITING T_____T
I BELIEVE in the Blue Team.

  4. Day 8

    nqImgDg.png

Did some eventing today for boss contest. I'm not sure I'll make the deadline and I've still got a ways to go. It's been another busy day so not as much RM got done as I'd hoped. That seems to be becoming a theme for me at the moment. It would be this month that everything starts going stupid on me. :/

    Anyway, some inner mapping done as well as the aforementioned eventing. Just cutscening at the moment, although I found a bug when playtesting one of my other games (I was taking a breather) and so I jumped on that and fixed it. Turns out I had a switch that kept turning itself off instead of on, so you could sequence break a chunk of the story. Silly me. Good thing I've not released that game to the public. ^.^;

I also did a bit of resource editing. Nothing major, just a few recolours for a character who I wanted to have different clothes. They still look a bit odd so I need to refine some parts a tad more but I like the new look better. So yeah, that was today.
  5. Day 5

    The Seven tower

    - Testing the content and cut-scene repeatedly.

    - Still working on the map for video cut-scenes.

    - Working on the character and classes database for the preview version.

    - Working on the maps connection for the game.

    - Working on the side-quest for the game.

    PJBsfCi.png

Note: for an unknown reason IDK why I didn't get any point from the past posts to the score sheet.
  6. GMD Day 7

    Day-7_zpsa57b20e7.jpg

Added a few more building decor, so buildings are about 85% done, just need a tad bit more.

    Things left to do:

    Shadows, recolors, and floor detail/decor.

  7. Day 8

I started this really early this time (from 3:30-730am) because my eye whites are almost completely red and I need time to rest them and possibly go outside for more than just groceries.  Anyway I didn't do much at all for my current project, instead doing what I promised a few others and proofread my first game one more time, cleaning up the rest of the misspellings.

I also fixed a couple non game breaking errors that were pointed out to me on another site; I hope this counts as enough done for the day, since I don't have anything finished to show, just a couple wip I started and scrapped. I'm uploading the fixed game as we speak, and once it's done I'll probably get some much needed sleep. It's a good thing I'm off today, so no screens need to be stared at. (HA)

What I learned today: Holy crap someone liked my game enough to give it a good review!

  8. nqImgDg.png

didn't do heaps today, but I set up another sidequest and worked on a whole bunch of boring database things. I also worked out a cleaner way to do my party dialogue system, & started working on that. alsoooo I started working out some places to add side characters into important convos.
  9. FEBRUARY 11, 2013

-Did some designs for Kai, one of the characters.

-Adrian gave me the number of expressions to draw. woo hoo!

-wrote some entries for our game development blog for CD :)

Okay folks, the first week is over. I will be tallying and posting the scores in the next day or two. If you have an update to post, please do so in the next 24 hours :)
Shaz can you make a link in your sig to the score sheet or put it in the first post?

Edit:  Saw it in the first post.  Sorry about that.

The Game Making Drive will start in February 4, 2014, MIDNIGHT (Your Time! February 4, for you, will be your Day 1)
Please look at the link above to see which team you're in!
    It's in the first post?
  12. Hey, Shaz, I'm only showing 3 points for last week.  If you throw out day 1 (because it was actually Monday here) then I should still have 4.

    Day 6

Yesterday was actually a pretty good day for work.  I worked on quite a few things that I had only started on but never finished.

I finished up the bust I'd been working on.  Yay!
    I finished the blanket chest.
Added the wood pile to the tileset.
Did a little more on the ocean tile. (doesn't actually count because it's for the next set, not this one)
Finished up the store signs and included a more period accurate iron wrought sign.
Attempted to update the first tile I ever made for this set. (failed, style clash)
Made a dirt tile that fades to darkness for the top of cave walls.

  13. Day... I don't even know anymore...

Argh. Really sick atm. Barely got anything done today, and missed my update time yesterday.

    Yesterday:

    Spoiler
Sourced gab and message yanfly scripts and added to game. Changed text where necessary. This took the best part of an hour. I made a shop too.
    Today:

    Spoiler
Updating early. Retiring early too. I really don't want to post screenshots rn, but rest assured that I made more on a town map, made some houses, and finished the mountain bypass. Oh. And I added a whole new character (though he only joins you for three towns)
Hm. I'll post two for +2.

  14. Decided not to use terrain tags to specify copy section as a terrain tag is very different concept in Ace compared to RMXP. The concept from RMXP is called a Region Id in Ace, so I implemented that.
I read through some of the Game_Map methods dealing with map data.

$game_map.terrain_tag(x, y)$game_map.region_id(x, y)$game_map.tile_id(x, y, layer)Shadows were rather bothersome and copying shadow data over without copying Region ID took up most of the time. (They are stored in the same 2 byte integer on layer 3)

Edit: So much good work is being done. It's awesome :D
  15. GMD Day 8 - February 11, 2014

Welp, I've spent most of my afternoon coding a basic combat simulation in C# for an assignment, and now I need a nap. OTL

  16. Day 6

(at least for me since I only do workdays)

    PJBsfCi.png

    Go, Team Red!

I worked really hard on one map to remap it to fit my planned minigames better, but unfortunately I still haven't finished the river that is so stupid to me, beh.

  17. Game making drive, day 7, February 11th:

Much eventing...very much eventing... polishing scenes and making reactions and such look more natural... playtesting and adding/subtracting items that are to sparse/abundant for balancing issues. Started working on the first boss, a zombie that has been a zombie so long it's actually just a skeleton now. I've already nerfed it twice and still think it's probably a little to hard, since hit points restore after every battle and I rely on an infection counter for resource management/survival instead distinguishing bosses from other enemies while still making them beatable is proving a little challenging to me. Spent a little time editing more zombies' battlers to create variants missing left, right and both arms. Completely for one character's skill that involves targeting them and hacking them off.

  18. Day 9

Today I did a bit of old school music composition (Score's rather than Midi :D ) , nothing to show at all quite yet, got distracted with a few other bits and pieces, alongside this I contacted a commisisoner, checked a few things over with HER and then it was onto making a few banners with the Art that Cecillia made for the Mini Resource pack

After that I did abit of research into upgrading my instruments found a few good choices and now it's the case of getting it!

  20. Day 7

Whew, a bit late... Today I got to start adding some stuff for the boss competition as well as finishing a few secret stuff~ :3 Plus I also did more more building design work and squeezed in some extra balancing time for my main game's new boss.
