  1. Hi, I need some help thinking of a game idea. Perhaps some people could mix some stuff up and help with the idea I would really appreciate the help and they would be credited. If a couple of ideas were good I would mix them together and credit all who I used. Here's some things I could do.

-Something rather with elements or crystals.

    -Dungeons

    -Maybe something special about villages.

That's all I can think of right now hope you guys will help me, thank you! :D
  2. You could create a game based on various crystals which hide a certain amount of a certain element, and the player could have to collect as many crystals as he can, fighting and searching for them in dungeons and other locations; the crystals could be crafted by finding recipes.
  3. IN all honesty you haven;t really given us much to go on , so it feels like you want us to write the story for you. Think on it a bit more using the 5 W's and  the how and see if you can get some more solid ideas;, like a setting\. Also you might want to try the Seventh Sanctum tools, especially the story generator,; I've posted a few of the ( mostly amusing) results I generated.  so far (I also found one for myself:p)

    • The story is about five withdrawn corporate officials. It starts in a colony in a magical dimension. A powerful grimoire plays an important role.
    • The story is about a cleric who hates an arch-mage. It takes place in a hospital in a town. The story ends with someone writing in a diary.
    • The story is about an unwise exorcist who hates children. It starts in an airplane. A new kind of magic is evolving in the story.
    • This is a story about questing. The story is about a knight, an irrational talk show host, and a wild druid who was once married to a peace-loving zoologist. It starts in an outpost in Switzerland. The story begins with a pleasant surprise and ends with an elopement.
    • The story is about a scientist. It takes place on a mountainous world that has all but forgotten its magical past in a magical part of our universe. The story climaxes with a deception.
    • The story is about a paladin. It starts in a bookstore in a village. The threat of terrorism plays a major part in this story.
    • The story is about a wizard and a whiny healer. It starts in a zoo. The crux of the story involves the discovery of a long-lost friend
    • This is a comedy/drama with an undercurrent about responsibility and the need for self-expression. The story is about a video game programmer who is dependent on medication. It takes place on an arid world where magic is part of everyday life in a star-spanning magical empire. An accident in space plays a major role in the story.
    • This is an epic about forbidden love and the danger of traditional values. The story is about an arch-druid looking for a challenge. It takes place in a magical alternate universe. The story begins with an infiltration. A temporal paradox plays a major role in the story.
  4. OK, those are a bit vague but...

Thousands of years ago, several Crystals fell to the planet's surface.  Being sentient, they borrowed deep underground, and grew feelers up through the strata.  As these hollowed out, they became caves.

And, when they reached the surface, their tendrils hummed with magic, so the early tribespeople, without knowing why, settled near them.

However, as the ages passed, earthquakes have damaged the Crystal's cores, which set them in opposition with each other.  The villages always gathered magical energy, drawing people in like moths to a flame.  But, now as the Crystals themselves went to war, people's very souls were sucked out to feed the Crystals.

Now, our brave adventurers need to put an end to this war before the entire world shatters as the Crystals continue to damage it.

That's just an off-the-cuff idea, but I hope it helps.
  5. Villages built upon crystal dungeons, where villagers engage in the dangerous task of entering the dungeons and mining crystals, which are valued in other parts of the world. You are one of them.
  6. I've moved this thread to General Discussion. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.
  7. Absolutely no offence intended, but your starting points are very generic. If you want to make a generic RPG then that's completely cool, but if not may I suggest you play around with the Periodic Table of Storytelling? It's great when you're stuck for ideas.

  8. lol - that is awesome! There goes my next half hour of productive work.
  9. How about the world is an incredibly hostile and dangerous place. To protect the people, the villages are built around crystals with magic powers, each one having a different elemental affinity, that shield and empower the people. However, the village the main character(s) come from has its crystal destroyed, with the shards flying across the wilds and into unknown lands. With this, the hero(s) set out to go recover the shards, and ultimately the world that they had never seen before. At that point, you could really make it about anything. Some ideas to go alone with it

-The crystals are taken into dungeons where the heroes have to retrieve them

-The world itself is actually one giant dungeon (this one is kinda lame tbh)

-The crystal from the village, having been broken, has gone out of control twisting the lands around each shard, allowing the different elemental  zones (might have to remove the elemental affinity part from my opener). The crystals would create the dungeons around them and change the monsters.
  10. The crystals have taken the form of people with no memory of their past existence as crystals. If killed as people, they reincarnate elsewhere. If destroyed as crystals, they and their power are gone forever, unless a human takes the power into themselves and becomes a new crystal.

The villages exist in self-contained pocket worlds, and travel is only possible when special dimensional pathways happen to align properly.

You play as a Walker, someone able to traverse the void between the village-spheres.
