for VX ACe, there are quite a few scripts for that... try Yanfly's Visual Battlers + Rhyme's Battler script (yanfly for actors, Rhyme's for enemies) or maybe just Rhyme's, Galv also has one, as well as Jet, then there is Yami's Symphony and so on

yes i downloaded all the scripts i could find for ace. I have Ace and recently download XP cause i heard it was better to make a final fantasy style game. Ive tried to get the sideview in Ace for like a week.. tweaking and stuff. it seems like to much of a

AFAIK setting up a side-view system for Ace:
1) Find and install an SBS script
2) Find battler sprites that is compatible with those scripts
3) Do anything else required by the script to make it work (usually notetags)
And it's not really that hard (especially if you compare it to implementing a larger script such as an ABS)... just put a bit more effort into it, after all game making requires a lot of effort. -

If you want a game that recreates things like the job system of FF V and the other game mechanics, you're probably better off going with Ace over XP. XP may have the graphical edge, but Ace gives you better scripting capabilities, which is what you need to create new game mechanics other than the default battle system.
And as far as mapping goes, you can make maps that are very close to what the early Final Fantasy games were in Ace. I can think of only a few places offhand where you'd have trouble (mountaintops with 'moving' backgrounds, mainly).
