  1. I am an indie game developer and I came across your software from an article I read in PCGamer. I am looking to explore video novels and want to try yours out. I was intrigued with your integration of Live2D. However when I went to the Live2D website, Cubism seems to only work with Photoshop psd files as input. Is that true? I don't use Photoshop for my graphics work. Why would Live2D restrict themselves to using a proprietary file format? It would be much better for them to allow importing of jpeg and png files as well. These formats are industry standards for image files. Please advise if I have mis-understood the Cubism workflow as stated on the Live2D website. If it is true that only psd files will work, then Visual Novel Maker will not be considered any further. Thank you.
  2. briantsui on youtube has entire tutorials on working with with cubism and jpg files. But you might get a more definitive answer on thelive2d website.
  3. HI,
Thanks for your reply. I'll check out briantsui's tutorials. As I mentioned, I found nothing on the Live2D website regarding other file formats, unless I missed it.
  4. Hi AirontinaStudio,

for Live2D Support, please read this from VN Maker's official Help File:

    https://asset.visualnovelmaker.com/help/index.htm#t=Live2D_Support.htm&rhsearch=animation&rhsyns=
    https://asset.visualnovelmaker.com/help/index.htm#t=Resource_Standards.htm

The Resource Standards Page shows you how to import Live2D 2.1 models into VN Maker if you scroll down to Live2D section. You don't need Photoshop, the textures are in PNG. Photoshop can be used and PSD file can be used for creating a Live2D Model in Live2D Cubism which is a separate software from VN Maker needed to create Live2D models which you can then import into VN Maker or any other software supporting Live2D.

Let me know if that helps you out or if you have any further questions.
  5. Hi Kentou,
I hadn't seen the references you linked. Thank you. They do answer my questions. I want to share that I found GIMP does export projects to psd format. So others may find GIMP an alternative to Photoshop when creating their art and wanting to use Live2D for animation.
