There is so much to say, and yet so little... so let's get to it!

First of all, here is a link to the Exile Saga Kickstarter page:

We'd appreciate your support, and that includes feedback!

Thanks to everyone who has helped us reach this potential milestone. Now comes the battle!

Exile Saga is a dream. It started as a writing contest/project between two friends seven yeas ago. Now, that story is becoming a fully fledged Adventure RPG with dungeons, memorable characters and a deep story set in a world torn asunder by a vicious invasion.

The game is built using RPG Maker VX Ace and a good deal of heavy customization, such as light effects, action battle system(ABS), OST and unique art.

We are getting closer to the goal that is Kickstarter, where we hope to gather enough funds to complete the game in as high quality as possible.

Excerpt from the games current intro:

Once, when the world was still whole and full of life,
there existed a covenant of fanatical devil worshipers.

With their increasingly bloody rituals and sudden,
    violent strikes against innocent people,
the covenant became hunted, and was forced into hiding.

This, however, did not end the bloodshed.

Instead, the covenant uncovered an ancient construct,
    hidden deep beneath the ground;
A stone portal with the strange symbols and markings of
    the very demons they worshiped.

The covenant then spent years in hiding - but also learning.
And in the end, they succeeded in casting a magical spell
-a spell that opened the portal,
and allowed a fiend unlike anything else to enter
    the world of man.

It was a devil so powerful that the covenant immediately
    cast itself at his feet.

With the help of the covenant, the devil lord succeeded
in summoning an army of hellish legions
    -resulting in the cataclysmic invasion,
    and bloodsoaked defeat of mankind.

During the war, however, one man was able to gather
a group of survivors, a sparse few hundred, and led them
to a place where he said they could live in
safety from the devil and his hordes

This man was known as Jonah Remington.

And from the moment he and his survivors set foot upon
the sacred land surrounding a monastery
    hidden from the enemy,
it was clear that Remington had been led to this place by the
    invisible forces of good.

Now, eighteen years later, Remington and his survivors still live
    and train at the Monastery,
hidden from the gaze and might of the devil lord.

Here in this haven, young men and women are
trained to survive against the hellish hordes, and here...

     ...our story begins.

    Spoiler
Exile Saga has a lot of classic features, and the most notable ones are:

No more random encounters. Pull out your weapon and assign your skills to the quickbar.
It's time to dish out some realtime damage!

    Skill Trees
Customize each characters unique abilities and create your very own mix of combat skills.

    Magic, Swords and Guns
Classic fantasy weaponry if I may say so.

    Epic Dungeons
Overcome deep darkness, deadly traps, monsters and powerful bosses - all in realtime!

    Deep Story
One of the most important things in RPGs is a good story. We spent seven years on this one.

    Original Exile Saga Soundtrack
With DesperateMeasurez on the team, this music adds a LOT of depth and feel to the gameplay.

  2. 12k?? Are you serious? Why does the rewards take up 20% of the budget? Doesn't that seem a bit high when the artwork is usually what costs most and is only 20%? Good luck, hope you get funded.
  3. @Shelby

I just knew this question would come up ;) And it's perfectly fine, really!

Yes, we are quite serious about our goal. It doesn't matter much that we are using RPG Maker to create the game, pricewise.

What matters is that we want quality art and music, and we are willing to pay for that.

    Moreover, Exile Saga is not a 10-level tower-running game or n any way a minigame - it's a full-fledged RPG.

And that is costly to create.

The 20% for artwork may be lower than what it will eventually be. It is only a rough estimate for now.

    Thanks for asking! ^^

12k is absolutely nothing in the scope of a commercial game. i'm surprised they aren't asking for more

also Meraki; if you're trying to make a full-fledged 40+ hour JRPG with custom graphics and music etc etc then 12k really is way too slim. of course there are some variables, like if you're working on the project with friends who are charging you a reduced rate and/or receiving royalties off the finished product. regardless, good luck!
  5. $1.000 Milestone Reached!

We just hit $1000CAD on our Kickstarter. That's not too shabby!

It's a long way yet, but we press on!

    $xxKilimxx

12.000 dollars will be enough for the foundation of the game and the graphics/music for it. Should we be lucky enough to reach a level on Kickstarter where we can (realistically) add stretch-goals, we will look into more advanced and expanded features :)

    Thank you for the support!
  6. Hey, good luck. Music is great, especially the battle theme. Reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics.
  7. @IRHP

Thanks! I like the music too :p We're lucky enough to have DesperateMeasurez onboard!

    @Seita

Much appreciated :) Support from the YANTH dev is absolutely awesome :p Call me a YANTH fan already...

Also, thank you for the help you've given me while we were preparing the Kickstarter.

    You're a good guy Donn :)
