  1. And come back to a project you've worked on for months only to look at your switches, variables, events, etc and ask yourself "Was I on meth when I named/organized these?!!?"
Feels bad man; anyway. What do you guys do when you hit a creative slump? My WIP game Volkheim Chronicles is BEE-YEW-TEE-FULL but I can't for the life of me remember what the hell is broken and what needs to be fixed, I've given it a few test plays and obviously it's just going to take a good few days to play through a few times to see what's wrong and what's right, anyway. Again, what do you do when the creative juices stop flowing? How do you re-inspire yourself?
  2. When I hit creative slumps, I just watch some movies, read some books, listen to some music... Tangentially think about my game at the same time. Sometimes, I even play a game I've been wanting to play for a while.

Usually, the best way to do it is to just keep your game in the back of your mind somewhere, but not worry about it. Just decompress and think of other things for a bit. Or, mess with the Database and create things that you'd simply never use or do in your game. Sometimes, I'll just play with the "character generator" and hit "Random" over and over again trying to just come up with two sentences about the character that was genned. Or, sometimes, I just throw a bunch of random junk together on an enemy and think about how that concept would work in combat.

Decompression is usually how you do it.
