    Hi everyone!

    I'm new to this forum, but I've been around for quite some time in the RPGMVXA Forums.

    Anyways, I'm hoping for some honest feedback on my project. I don't care how harsh it might sound. I want full, unbarred criticism to help me improve ^_^

    *Note: This game is based on a novel I am working on alongside this project. Of course, some of the elements have been changed to match a more game-like structure. If you're interested, you can read the raw story here.

    • 03/08/2014 - v1.1 => Fixed a bug regarding the 'guard' command
    • 04/08/2014 - v1.2 => Fixed some passability bugs; Replaced RTP audio; Fixed Random Encounters. Minor Bug Fixes.
    • 03/06/2015 - v2.0 => I had stopped working on the project for a long time, but since I had most of the stuff done with, thought I'd finish up this part. So, story progressed more, more characters added, basically a complete update.
    • 06/06/2015 - v2.1 => Added anti-lag script and fixed some minor issues here and there.

    Raito isn't the best wizard out there. Nor does he have the self confidence to believe that he could be. However, blessed with the talents of his late grandfather, Raito begins to harness the wind elemental gifts he received from his bloodline. Following his family's footsteps, Raito joins the United World Army (UWA), an international organisation that thrives to maintain peace using the united abilities of wizards of all elemental prowesses. However, with the antagonistic forces growing ever stronger, even such a unity could prove lacking.

    As the evil organisations grow ever closer to uncovering the secrets of the legendary Ethereal Springs, the famed fountain believed to grant unbelievable powers, the world could be on the brink of chaos. The Ethereal Springs cannot fall into wrong hands. It is high time for the new generation of wizards to produce a hero who can take a stand against the inevitable.

    Join Raito as he teams up with a mysterious woman in his own story of defiance against the dark arts, while uncovering ravishing information about his own bloodline - and that of his comrades…

  2. It was okay, here are some thoughts to take into consideration.

    - You should change Raito's description on the status screen. I don't think that he's a "veteran warrior who fought on many battlefields."

    -You probably shouldn't use the fat sprite for Raito's pajamas, unless his street clothes magically change his size.

    -While the HUD is certainly pretty, it doesn't really do much and just gets in the way. It works in an action RPG like Kingdom Hearts because combat could start at anytime and you always need to keep an eye on your HP.

    -During the soccer minigame, you can just keep shooting left and scoring, Razor never moves. I guess he's not part of the "soccer tribe."

    -The enemies should do more than just use a basic attack. For example, maybe an enemy has a skill that does a lot of damage but also has low accuracy. That way, the player will be on edge and play more cautiously, adding variety to encounters.
  3. @DITR thanks for taking the time to try my game! Really appreciate it  :D

    I already noticed the description error on the status screen. Since it isn't a game breaking bug, I decided to fix it in the next demo.

    The error with the football minigame is kinda weird  :unsure:  I've tested it many times and it worked everytime for me...

    Anyways, I'm like 85% done with the next major update, hope to release it within the next week.

    I hope to make the next demo much more interactive than this one. Not to mention I added a lot more humour  BD
  4. ***UPDATE***

    So I haven't touched this project in a LONG time (9 months to be accurate) and thought of abandoning it. But then I realised I had most of the materials, maps, events etc done for the second demo when I last worked on it, so I thought of giving it that last push, cleared some major bugs, and basically cleaned up the whole game and added more story material.

    So, Ethereal Springs v2.0 has been uploaded! The OP has been updated with the link to the new demo. The game should be approximately 2 hours upto now.

    I'm open for any sort of criticism. Please feel free to say anything you want.

  5. Okay, so I played the game again.

    I have to say, I'm impressed with the mapping in Kiliga. It was a very seamless transition that you made.

    However, the game lagged pretty badly at points, so you should probably install an anti-lag script.

    Also, that alcohol notice came out of nowhere, that was pretty out of place...

    Why does Robert's house turn into a labyrinth at night? It seems a little illogical. Maybe the thing in the box is a monster that you have to fight for the gold?

    Also, after I obtained the gold, I went to sleep and then talked to the pirate but he wouldn't give me the pearl I needed to get the rope to finish the mountain. 
  6. @BlackLiquidSorrow I appreciate it so much that you took the trouble of playing though my game again. Really means a lot!

    I have to say, I'm impressed with the mapping in Kiliga. It was a very seamless transition that you made.
    Lol I never thought I'd be appreciated for my maps. I was never that good at mapping. Never. But I try my best ^_^

    (And its Hiliga btw, eh typos are natural...)

    I actually thought the lag was due to my pc only, not because of the game. Now that I know, guess I'll add an anti-lag script in the next version :)

    I just thought of pointing it out after a scene that promoted alcohol consumption that I do not support alcohol consumption, you know, like how movies point out that smoking is bad in a scene that shows smoking.

    I made it like a maze to make things more interesting. You know, its more fun than just walking up straight and looting the chest. You could think it as it seems a bit bigger because you can't see much because of the dark. I know. Poor excuse :(

    The thing in the box is something else. I am assuming you haven't found it while searching, so you don't know what it is.

    That's pretty weird, I playtested through the whole game like fifteen times (fourteen to be more exact, I counted). I've never had that problem even once. Could you tell me or show me a screenshot of what the pirate says, so I can see what event page its on in your game and hence try to find the problem.

  7. The pirate just says the line about how he feels one with nature but doesn't mention the pearl.
  8. That's just strange. He shouldn't say that until you get the pearl. Try checking your menu (Key Items) to see if you somehow missed it, cuz I just playtested again and it worked just fine o_O

    Demo v2.1 uploaded!

    Added an anti-lag script since the game was lagging quite a bit. Also fixed some minor issues here and there.
