'Energy Saving' shutdown display when using Gamepad

  1. I've searched a bit about it but I didn't found anything.

Maybe people don't use PC Joysticks very much, or disable 'energy saving'.

When I'm playing in window mode (no fullscreen) using my gamepad, my display shutdown as if no input is being send to Windows then 'energy saving' conditions are meet (in my case, 10 minutes away from computer).

I know I can simply disable energy saving, but the point is: why it happens?

Isnt suppose to Windows detect gamepad inputs on the game? Or the game should be sending this information to Windows somehow?

I'm the only one with the same problem? By the way, I'm using Windows 8.
  2. This is a problem between the device driver and the energy settings - if Windows shuts down when the joystick is still used, then that joystick/gamepads driver does not inform windows about its data stream, and the energy control does not detect that data stream.

Most likely that is because the driver is probably pre-Win8, but there is nothing we can do about it, it's a problem that has to be solved either by the device producer (by making a new driver for it) or by Microsoft (by providing a windows-update going back to previous driver adresses, which is extremely unlikely that they do that)
  3. Does this happen with the gamepad in activity even outside of the game? You didn't mention what gamepad you are using either. Both pieces of information could really help out in solving the problem.

I see. I've suspected that. I dont expect to have a script for fixing it or anything. I was just curious about this fact. But your explanation is very complete and helped a lot!

RMVX is the first case I've noted. Either way, I'll check on other games and report here.
  5. Alright, I've realised this happens only when playing in window mode.

So far only RPG Makers are showing this problem. I've tested RM2003 too.
  6. I've moved this thread to Tech Support - All Makers. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.
