Enemy not doing what I set it to do

  1. So I'm trying to make enemy creature do a "buff shout skill" on turn one of the fight, and then redo it every 6th turn after that when the buff drops.  For some reason on the first turn, he doesn't always do it.  This is how I set it.

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding how the RATING thing works, but I'm under the impression that the skill set to function on a certain turn number has priority.

Thanks for any advice in this matter.
  2. Make sure the number is at least three or four ratings higher then the other skills. If that doesn't work use the troop tab. Set it to "0 + 6" and have it set to "moment". Then you can force the monster to use the skill when ever it's the sixth turn.
  3. Yep, I think changing the rating will do it. Set it to 10 (that's more than enough), and make sure no other skills come within 3 rating points of it.
  4. So the higher rating for the SET TURN SKILL will not over ride the lower rated ALWAYS skill?  So they will always just do it on pre-set turns?  (1, 6, 12, 18,...) in this case?  Huh, could have sworn I read something differently on another site.
  5. When it chooses what skills are available for an enemy, it will first remove any that are excluded by their conditions. So if it's NOT every 6th turn, your "special" skill will not even be in the running for selection. Then from the remaining skills, it will find the one with the highest rating. Then it will look at all others and choose those with a rating within 3 points of the highest.

So if you have 5 skills with no conditions, and you give them a rating from 1 through 5, only skills 3, 4 and 5 will ever be used. 1 and 2 will be excluded because they're 3 or more points away from the highest rated skill.

If you give your special skill a rating of 10 and the others only 5, every 6th turn, when its conditions are met, it will be chosen and the engine will look for other skills with a rating of 8, 9 or 10 (not sure if it looks at 7 or not). Your skills with a rating of 5 will not be in the running. Because it only finds one skill, it will be guaranteed to be used.

This is explained in the help file, and also (I think) when you hover your mouse over certain elements in the dialogue box when you enter the skill.
