  1. That one contains commercial game icons too. Don't use it if you don't want to get into trouble ;w;

    e.g. Guild Wars
  2. FYI, crediting where you got the ripped graphics doesn't make it any more legal to use.
  3. I wish someone would just delete that iconset.
  4. well f, then i have to make my own "large iconsset" but with proper licenseinformation (Not always so easy on japanese sites).
  5. The last thing you EVER want to do is risk legal troubles because you chose a resource whose legality is unknown.

    I've never done it.  I use only the RTP, the Resource Packs I've purchased, and items whose authors clearly gave permission.  This leaves me a TON of legal things to play with.  And if I felt a game I made were good enough to go commercial with, I'd triple check any resources beyond the RTP and Resource Packs to see what I need to do to get legal permission to use the resources in a commercial game --- some resources are free for non-commercial use but NOT for commercial use.

    If you have artistic ability, it's FAR better to create even a very simple placeholder.  Doing so, you will improve your artistic skills and could perhaps even sell your own icon set.  Or, if you don't want to, use one of the clearly legal ones --- see GrandmaDeb's list of RPG Maker resources for a good selection.

    Legal questions can result in, at the very least, your game getting a cease and desist notice, or a takedown request.  Then, until you pick some legal resource, you can't distribute your game.  At worst, it could go as far as being dragged into court and you could even be given criminal charges (if there is a clear copyright violation) and "a fine up to $250,000"

    I have no idea how likely any of that is, but it's clearly not worth taking the risk.
