Don't Give Me Clichés or Give Me Death! (Title under construction, I have no idea what I'm doing)

  1. Hi, I'm a total newbie here and to RPG Maker VX Ace.  I bought the software back when Steam had it for 75% off  :headshake: , but now I have a reason to learn how to use the software.  I probably have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the grand prize, but winning anything would be nice.  Below is a post WIP, so I will update it as I move along with the project.

    Synopsis

Choose either the hero or the heroine and go down the path of where you must avoid re-enacting clichés that plague either the shounen or shoujo genre.  If not, too many slip-ups will cause Athena to rain down weapons of her choice to wipe you off the face of the planet as part of her plan to trim the size of the human race.  You have to endure Athena's month-long trial period so you can go back to your awesomely, mundane life.

    Gameplay

The protagonist will engage in cutscenes that may or may not be ordinary.  Random battles will be disguised by ordinary NPCs, in which the protagonist have to fight their way out of engaging in a clichéd scenario.  The player must equip and train their protagonist to avoid or change any clichéd scenario that comes their way whether they take place within a cutscene or in a random battle.  Will you avoid NPCs like the plague or will you take whatever the fate of clichés are throw at you?

    Developer's Notes

    • Once I'm done with school, then I'll put more time into actually finishing my first character sprite along with other things.
    • Another thing is that creating the heroine's route will come easier to me, so I hope I can quickly finish her route and then work on the guy's route.
    • If I'm smart enough to tame VX Ace, then I might actually be able to turn my gameplay into a reality with the random battles and adding in my own battle animations.
    • The video above was recorded with Nvidia's Shadowplay software, and it was my first time struggling with video-capturing software. >_>
  2. I very much like the premise, as all turn based combat is far more enjoyable with a touch of sarcasm, jajajaja.
  3. Good luck with your submission.
  4. Interesting! I'm making a game with a tangentially similar concept actually (cliche/trope satire) but it's just a straight JRPG instead of a more unique concept like this. I wish you the best of luck and I'll definitely be looking forward to your progress!
