I quite liked X-Noir, so I'd recommend that. An interesting setting with relatable characters, pretty decent plot, and some nicely-done puzzles.

And I'd risk doing some shameless self-promotion by saying one of my commercial games - Snares of Ruin. :D :D :D

Would be interested to see what other ones come up here, since it's a genre I quite enjoy too.

I'm making a game that at it's core involves investigation though its not quite a detective game
