Do you Use Special Tiles to Handle Directional Passibility on Parallax?

    The idea of keeping a few tiles open to serve as passibility control - IOW tiles are either X or O so you can _not walk on them _walk on them is a common idea in parallax mapping.


    I guess if you walk under them you just stick those puppies on another layer. =]


    I was wondering if people also keep tiles available for directional passibilty.


    It just kind of occurred to me. And how do you keep it straight? o_0
  2. I have only made one parallax map so far but intend to do more. When I did that one map I made my Tile A5 set have an X on the top far right and a blank 0 directly under it. I figured top corner bad underneath it good. would be easy to remember. I plan to implement the same system for all my parallax mapping just to keep it in order.  Another way to do the highlighting is just to paint over your map with a ug tile that stands out as your okay then just copy over the ug tile with the blank tile so the map shows back up.  That way you don't miss any squares.  I didn't do that the first time and I missed squares, so that is my plan for future mapping.
  3. I don't parallax as much anymore, but I do have a set of tiles I use at the bottom of one of the Tiles B-E:

    The blue is somewhat transparent so I can see the tile underneath. I've found that I don't use the other direction combinations as much, so I don't normally add them.

    After the map is completely done, I just import the same tileset again with that bottom section blank.. It keeps the priorities/passabilities. :)
  4. That is what I was thinking, but since I really haven't ~done~ it, I wanted to hear from someone who had, and see what they came up with.

  5. shaz has an AMAZING passability scirpt for parallax mapper!!!

    i have a clear set i use then for directional passing i edit with shaz script and boom bone.
